Lack of Educational Opportunities in Kazakhstan Academic Reading and Writing Group 10 20091699 Tukenov Alibek Every year, thousands of youngsters finish the school. Some of them finish it with good grades, some are not. Big part of graduates goes to universities or other higher educational places and continues their studies there. And approximately 50% of all graduates study at university for free. (Myskina 2009) Our government allocates some funds for the students who took the highest score at UNT (United National Test – test for school graduates, to approve the knowledge taken at school). So still a lot of people can not afford themselves to study at university or to pay for their children because education in Kazakhstan is pretty expensive. Prices of higher education are growing fast every year, but not the salaries of people. And it is well-known that one of the most important moments of development of country is well-educated people or in another words accessibility of nation to higher education places. Millions of tenge is allocated each year by government, but still 1/3 part of all students are potential candidates for dismissal only because of financial situation of their family. (Myskina 2009) So I think that one of the biggest problems of Kazakhstan society is that many people among school graduates and students of universities can not attend university or are on their way to dismissal because of financial background, and government, from their side, should help and support economically weak families in order to increase overall education level in the country.
