Know France before Going France, a country, is famous for its thousand year’s history, ancient architectures, leading trends fashion, delicious food, and etc. France is the top and one of the most beautiful and romantic travel destinations in the western world. Just 2007, the record number of tourist visited France is 82 million (“Record” 1). In order to fully prepare for a trip to France, it is important to know the country’s culture, sites, and travel accommodations. French are extremely proud of their culture, heritage, and the way of like, so it is important to have some knowledge of French and show appreciation of their culture (“General” 1). In France, the official language is French. English is the most common first foreign language, and Spanish and German are common second foreign language (“Language” 2). The French will appreciate if the visitor can speak a few words of French in stead for shout at English directly. As a country of fashion, dress well is very important for the French, so they have the same expectation of the visitors of their appearance (“Personal” 1). The handshaking is a common form of greet, and a woman does not offer her hand to a man but instead waits for him to initiate the greeting. Friends may greet each other by lightly kissing on the cheeks, once on the left cheek, once on the right cheek. The “okay” sign that Americans use means “zero” to the French, and the French gesture for “okay” is the “thumbs up” sign (“Gestures” 1). Tourists in France are sometimes surprised to find themselves faced with closed doors. Figure out the closed days of France could save a lot trouble. In public holidays, everywhere in France is closed, and when a public holiday falls on a Tuesday or a Thursday, many workplaces remain closed for the Monday or Friday too, that means they will close four days.
