Anti-social behaviour, gangs and knife violence are the main reasons for the social nightmare we live in. so who carry these instruments of death? Teenagers aged from 13 – 18 are statistically the more frequent wielders of weapons and are the current problem the police forces are trying to target and conclude to the predicament we face, knife crime. So how can we stop the dilemma we face in our modern day of age? Are the police doing the job they should be? Why are such crimes committed? These are some of the questions I will be answering throughout the essay. Knife crime is being tackled all over the country in different techniques and methods. The government have been extending the previous sentence for carrying a knife to strike fear into wielders of weapons. The police have a dedicated team which are able to stop and search the local people of an area to try and prevent any further problems which could be happening. Also the police have the power to stop and search under reasonable suspicion and a section 60 which is where the police will lock down a whole area and have the power to randomly search people and vehicles but mainly targeting the ‘main players’ of knife crime. When TKAP came into play, in the 10 area’s it had targeted police had raised the provisional number of stop and searches which lead to a reduction of knifes carried by 19 year olds and under but unfortunately raised the
