WHAT? During week one in CI 201, we started off class by reading the book The Pink Refrigerator by Tim Egan. The main character in this story was Dodsworth. As we discussed in class, his motto in life was to do as little as possible. One day he stumbled upon a pink refrigerator that had a note on it with big plans for him. The refrigerator made his life much more exciting and full of adventure. After reading the book, each person in the class was assigned to create their own pink refrigerator and put things in it that they believe a good teacher must have. My refrigerator included the following: creativity, patience, and a big heart. Teachers have all different types of students in their classroom, and they want all of them to succeed. They must remember that not all students learn in the same way. With that being said, I believe teachers need to be creative in their lesson plans so they are not always using the same strategies while teaching. One student may be a bookworm and only learn through reading. Another student may not learn material well without having a hands on activity. Teachers need to use creativity to come up with ways so all students learn as much as they can. My second item is patience. As mentioned, teachers have the opportunity to work with many different students. Some students are smart and learn quickly, some are average, and some may need a little extra help. It is sometimes frustrating when teachers have a student who just cannot pick up on something being taught. That is where patience comes in. Teachers must be able to take extra time and help a student as much as they can. Both the student and teacher may become very impatient with one another. Good teachers overcome that feeling and stay patient; the “ah-ha moment” when a student finally understands a topic is worth the struggle. My final item is a big heart. Teachers must remember
