The U.S economy is the largest and most technologically powerful one in the world and has entered into economic expansion. In this economy, private individuals and business firms make most of the decisions, and the federal and state governments are not only as a regulator of specific industries but also manages the overall pace of economic activity in order to keep high employment rate and stable prices. The Federal and government use fiscal policy to determine the appropriate level of taxes and spending; and monetary policy to manage the supply of money. This paper briefly describes the recent state of the U.S economy, its government Fiscal policy and Federal Reverse monetary policy, some recommendations for these policies, and how one of these policies impacted KB Home Builder.
In recent years, the growth of U.S economy has been noticeable. First, the GDP in 2004 and 2005 was raised steadily by substantial gains in labor productivity. The GDP reached at 12.77 trillion in 2005 with the growth rate 3.5%. The economy suffered from a sharp increase in energy prices in mid-2005, but those prices dropped back to earlier levels in the end of the year. Hurricane Katrina caused extensive damage in the Gulf Coast region, but impact on overall GDP growth for the year 2005 a little. Next, with this growth in economic activity, jobs have increased also, and the unemployment rate has declined. Indeed, the unemployment rate came in at 5.1 percent at the end of year 2005, a number so-called "full employment.   For the inflation, the core has been firming up since late 2003, and core inflation has been under good control and longer-term inflation expectations so far. The core on consumer price showed 3.2% in the year 2005. Steeply rising energy prices pushed up overall inflation, raised business costs, and squeezed household budgets.
