In the article "Should Candy and Soda be Banned from Schools" by Tom Vilsack U.S Secretary of Agriculture, it is expressing the effect the eating habit's in which are being promoted throughout schools and how children are affected by them. There are two major aspects stated in this article. The first aspect is the steps that will try to be made in removing all unhealthy drinks and snacks from school vending machines. The second is the effects this has on children which in this particular case is Obesity. Both very valid arguments and we will begin to see why during this passage.
This is causing kids to throw out food, that they are not getting enough of to begin with, but because of the flavor the kids would rather not eat at all then to eat food that is very bland. We need to take action and getting better food regulations for all the children before it gets any worse. The first step would be to contacts our senator in D.C. and write to many others. Eventually the news will get back to Obama and others who will create a balanced meal for all children to
There should not be open campus at schools. The school would lose profits from the lunches, the food consumed by the students outside of school will most likely be unhealthy, and the students would not be under any supervision. Open campus would have a negative effect on schools and its students. The students would leave during lunchtime to get themselves McDonalds or Burger King to eat. Meanwhile, our already poor school loses profit to these fast food restaurants.
The exposure to unhealthy environment and food increase the chance of children coming in to contact with infectious diseases. This in result may affect the development of the child. Family environment and background In some homes education is not given prominence. Since the parents
Howard (2001) noted that young people from poorer homes have lower intakes of energy, vitamins, and minerals. Poor nutrition will affect health, children’s energy levels will be low, resulting in poor concentration in class, they will also have a weaker immune system meaning more days off of school. Wilkinson (1996) ‘the lower the social class, the higher the rate of hyperactivity, anxiety, and conduct disorders’ which obviously have a negative impact on education. There is also the
In order to cut down on the number of students who leave school without permission, schools should do away with their inadequate in-school suspension policy, and adopt the new alternative policy known as billiam. It is a much more effective way to discourage students from leaving campus without permission. Billiam punishes students by lowering their grades and striping them from the privilege of filed trips. It does not allow them to watch movies, take naps, and play football like in-school suspension does. It is real punishment for a real problem.
He insists they would not eat as much if they knew that it was bad for them or if the industry put nutrition labels on their food. My outlook on this topic varied significantly from that of Zinczenko’s. I feel that it is not the fault of the fast food company. Neither would I put blame on the younger children who eat fast food. I would put most of the culpability on the parents who do not teach their kids how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and buy their children unhealthy food. I disagree completely that we as Americans suffer from lack of information about nutrition in fast food.
If children do not like the first choice of food given to them they will have another nutrious alternative to enjoy. The policy ensures that the food standards are met to be in line with the governments legislation - The Education (Nutritional Standars and Requirements for School Food)
Fatty Fat Fat: Political Gluttony Junking Junk Food by Judith Warner begins to show the problem that our government has taken in an effort to reduce obesity in this country and change the eating habits of all citizens within our country. The Obama administration’s efforts to change the nutritional lifestyle of American’s are extremely not successful, but also viewed as offensive. There is no way to make junk food illegal; in order change America’s diet, they need to change the way Americans view junk food. The author makes the reader subconsciously decide that America’s obsession with junk food is, in fact, irrational and absurd. Warner’s audience is pointed out to be anyone interested in how the government would have the ability to successfully change the diets of Americans.
In “The battle against fast food begins in the home” by Daniel Weintraub he is stating that parents are at fault for children’s obesity and their eating habits. Weintraub also says that the food companies shouldn’t be blamed for people gaining weight and becoming unhealthy by eating their food all the time. In this article Weintraub is blaming the parents which in my opinion is correct for him to do that because parents should teach their children what to eat and what not to eat. I don’t understand how people could blame a food company for making them fatter. That is absurd; if people don’t want to gain weight then they shouldn’t eat there or allow their children to eat there if they are going to complain about it.
