The J.M Smucker company is the leading marketer and manufacturer of fruit spreads (jams, jellies, preserves), peanut butter ice cream topping, and health and natural foods beverages in North America. In 1897, Orrville, Ohio, a farmer named James Monroe Smucker began selling apple butter from the back of a horse-drawn wagon. Then that was how the J.M Smucker Company started and where the company’s headquarter was founded. According to the FORTUNE—Family –run business don’t always work out in the long haul. Some of the Iconic companies—Ford , Dupot and P&G started out as family enterprises. But before long, the professional managers moved in. The company has had five chief executives, all named Smucker -- J.M. (1897-1947), his son Willard (1948-60), his son Paul (1961-87), and since then Paul's sons Timothy and Richard Smucker, who share the job. And the Fifth-generation Mark Smucker and Paul Smucker Wagstaff are both division presidents. For more than 115 years, the J.M. Smucker Company has been committed to offering consumers high quality products and services that bring families together to share memorable meals and moments.
