Andre’ Rice Ms. Massey English 1301-04 28, August, 2013 Java City As I walked toward Java City I asked myself “what will this coffee shop have in store for me”. I was welcomed by several warm greetings from over 6 different employees all at once. It was as if I walked into a full press release with a great deal of overeager news reporters throwing questions at one time. I began to smell the rich aromas of fresh coffee and baked goods as soon as I took my first steps in Java City. Glass covering the delicious baked goods wasn’t enough to case the delightful smells. The bubbling of the steamer warming the milk, the gurgling of the coffee brewing, and the humming of the refrigerator created a warm, relaxing environment. The lighting coming from the ceiling was so bright as if it was there to blind customers who enter. The walls were painted orange and yellow bringing a distinct happiness to the customers. Cream tiles outlined by black paste that were rowed and columned by a distinct pattern covered the cold newly mopped floors. As I stood in line I observed many conversations between different groups of students and employees. The waiting lines moved so quickly due to high volume in the shop. Every order was made so fast and in a hurry. I also noticed a man seated in a corner of the room, his coffee in one hand and a newspaper in the other. Greeting everyone that walked by it seemed as if this could be a daily routine for him. Taking a look at everyone in the shop, all eyes were focused on the large white menu stating every item from coffees, to cakes, to ciders, to pastries. The atmosphere was very friendly and had a joyous environment that made me feel at home. Every staff member was filled with so much joy and excitement to serve each customer. With non-stop smiles from every employee it seemed as if they all had just hit the lottery. They worked
