Reggae Music Paige Alexander Dawson Community College Abstract Reggae music is an engaged musical genre that is very famous. Most people think of Reggae music as music of joy, peace and linked to Jamaica or the sunny island where everyone smokes herb freely. But in fact, Reggae sculpts itself in a whole social movement. First, it claims religious and social demands, and with the years, it became more and more discussed. Reggae music originated from Jamaica in the early 1960's.
This visible expression of a Rasta culture has contributed to various lifestyles that evolved among the informants to help them manipulate their fortunes during a time of great social and economic change in Jamaica. Consumer research is beginning to investigate a broadened perspective of consumption activities linking identity to different aspects of culture. Jamaica is located near the center of the Caribbean Sea with tropical and sometimes humid weather. In the beginning, Jamaica’s economy thrived on farming but today they are earning more money on tourism. Bananas, coffee, sugar cane and citrus are just some of the crops that they grew (Miller, 2002). There are some important aspects of Jamaica’s culture and history that are interesting and unique to them. Music, religion and the government each have unique elements to them.
There are many cultures in the world, I just so happen to be a part of the Hispanic culture, being that I am Puerto Rican. In the Hispanic culture I would say the three main aspects is the traditional food that is shared, The Music and Arts, and the sense of community. The food of a Hispanic is kept within a family with traditional dishes such as alcapurrias, pasteles, pastelon. The significance of hispanic dishes is that many of the food is farm grown by hand from their own people/family. Most Puerto Ricans still own farms in Puerto Rico which they tend to.
But for example, if you move to South America or any country in the Caribbean, it probably will be easier, for the good nature of this people. In the US, there are several associations to group together people from the same country. It is a nice way to share traditions and customs. Immigrants used to miss their typical food; in the US most of the supermarkets have international sections where people can find specific ingredients to cook delicious dishes from their own countries; we can find ingredients from South America to Asia. As a multicultural country, the US has several international restaurants.

They are often identified with African Americans, and it is sometimes assumed that they share similar values and perspectives. Jamaicans, however, have a distinct history and culture. Being aware of their history and culture could enhance the interaction between health care providers and clients. This paper will attempt to address their cultural beliefs in relation to communication, time orientation and personal space, social roles, religion, health beliefs, health practices, health risks, dietary preferences, practices and related issues or concerns, and interventions for health care providers and nurses.

Long ago pepper was a well sought after commodity and highly valued. In Southeast Asia, where pepper and other spices originated, the demand for spices by other countries would have a great impact and influence over the economic growth and cultural development for years to come. There were two main factors not originating in Southeast Asia that contributed to the economic development of Southeast Asia, the Crusades and the policy of the Chinese government.
