Jack Welch’s leadership style is more coaching style. He believes in leading and not managing. He could influence the employees to do their work effectively and efficiently. He has all the traits of a good leader and it is evident in that he changed the whole company and they are now one of the most admired company in the world. He refused to be like anyone else and he believed that if you get less formal then you would get better idea because some of the employees might have good ideas but they are not recognised because and the level they are working on that is why he would hold informal meetings and occasional get-togethers to encourage people to lighten up. Welch’s approach is more theory y in terms that he prefers to work with and on the employee’s strengths helping them to reach goals and also looking for what they are good with and how they can improve or contribute to the company by ideas or work. He also believes in not tolerating bureaucracy and not following procedure or being in the ‘norm’.
