Mary H It’s Harvest Time As the colors of the leaves turn; orange, yellow and red, everyone loses an hour of precious sleep and the temperature begins plummet, the seasons are about to change. As families prepare their secret recipes for a harvest inspired meal and the young kids carve their pumpkins, fall has arrived. Between studying for midterms, and being away at school for almost two months, having a break is greatly appreciated amongst all college students and professors. Going home and being welcomed by loved ones is always a wholesome feeling. The purpose of fall break is to go home to relax, spend time with loved ones and participate in fall festivities. For many college students going home during fall break is a time to relax. Many students need time to get away to reduce the amount of stress built up from the endless amount of work and studying. Some colleges schedule fall break after midterms and some schedule it before so students can have extra time to study for all of their midterms. Going home after month of being away at college is a time to sleep in and worry less about homework and studying for tests. Families cannot wait for when they get to see their kids, grandkids or siblings to come home from being away at college for a couple months. Fall break is the time off before Thanksgiving so it can allow students to go home before all the commotion of food and other relatives coming into town for Thanksgiving. Fall break allows a short break from all the classes to spend time with friends and family. Being home for a couple of days seeing familiar surroundings and faces could brighten up a student’s week and can allow them to have a clear and focused mind when everyone returns back to school.
