Counselling/ counselling ideas may help to cope with the challenges of ‘change’ ‘The more I am willing to be myself in all this complexity of life […] the more I am willing to understand and accept the realities in myself and in the other person […]” Rogers (1961). In order to tackle changes in a client’s life, it is important for the counsellor themselves to be self-aware and have an understanding of others’ values, beliefs and attitudes although they may conflict with their own. The counsellor is there to help the client adapt to these changes, helping clients to push out old information and take in new- this however is also an aspect of change which the counsellor has to help the client pursue whilst keeping ethical and professional boundaries. Changes are accompanied by strong emotions, both negative and positive and counselling is able to support the transition from one state to another. When looking at coping with change it is not possible to ignore some of the events which change our development, life events which cause significant change are called transitions (Jeffery, J in Aldridge, S & Rigby, S 2004).
Also I may lack skills or knowledge to be aware of what else you should be doing or other ways in which I might work. Feedback may come from a variety of sources, including parent and colleagues as well as early year’s advisers. For this qualification, I may also be given feedback from my assessor Joy. Feedback works best if I trust the people it comes from and if they feel that they can give me an honest view. It is a skill in itself to be able to listen to feedback carefully without becoming defensive.
He teaches his student the way he believes what the right way was, and impart in his students mind what he thinks was the truth or the fact. Then the student trusts and absorbs the educator’s idea believing he has all the credentials to teach effectively. Sometimes the student questions it, but most of the time he won’t. But, Tompkins had said something about questioning facts or evidence, she said, “This doesn’t mean you have to accept just anybody’s facts. You can show that what someone else asserts to be fact is false” (118).
Another thing that benefits me is being able to here others people points of view. I may not understand what the instructor is asking so if I read or hear another person response then I may understand it better. I ask the other classmates questions on how they would respond to the subject and keep an open mind about their answer. How might factors such as diversity, attitude, learning, and work styles affect collaboration? *
This will save time in the long run, which should encourage most employees despite their initial frustration with the management system change. A series of training and preparation with individualized tutorials might mitigate some anticipated resistance. Inadequate communication may also cause resistance. Management will make the major decisions with regard to the scheduled change; it is their obligation to clarify these decisions to subordinates within the company. Management is also expected to properly handle the inevitable questions and grievances; it is important to avoid misinterpretation regarding the procedural
Alternative Dispute Resolution Paper LAW/531 Alternative Dispute Resolution Paper Organizations and educational facilities that once relied on individual performances are evolving to more supportive learning team environments. Employees and students work in groups, offering support to each other to achieve set objectives. Although proven to be more efficient, conflicts do occasionally arise so when they do emerge, an effective team should have alternative dispute resolutions (ADR’s) in place as a means to address disputes as they occur. Academic virtual learning environments while rewarding can also cause extreme frustration. The team is reliant on its members to write and submit their portions of the assignment on time.
Human service professionals can aid in the process of helping the client, but it is ultimately up to the client to decide if they want to help themselves. In helping a client it is always good to listen as the client will tell you what they, are seeking and they will pass along clues that can be used to help the m return to self- help. Many times clients are not comfortable when they bring needs to the human service workers so at that time it is necessary in the helping process to break the ice and make them feel comfortable. Once that happens then the process can begin. Asking correct questions is also part of the helping process, never insinuate or ask questions that may put a client on the defense as this may lead to
Exercise 1.1 Specific ways I need to change to be a more helpful person is to always look for the other person first and not just for myself. I have a tendency to put myself first instead of others and I really need to work on this quality. I have great listening skills and make eye contact but I don’t move around when I talk so I feel that would make me a more helpful person also because they would not be bored. Exercise 1.2 If I saw a professional with these labels I would think great they were except for the shrink because might make you think down on yourself instead of there to help you with your problems. These people are all very special and help to provide help in so many ways to help to get a job, a home, medical assistance, to just help with everyday living.
As well as reviewing my own development I know that I can rely on other colleageaues to help. If my weakness were for example to be lacking assertiveness, I would call on a colleague that I know to be more assertive than I. Alternatively it may be my colleague has weaknesses where I have strengths. This is where team work is important when we all pull together we can all be consistent. Numerous courses are always available relating to our work. Any one of us can take a course at any time concerning a particular area where we think we may be lacking certain attributes.
Personal attitudes can affect the way you work everyone has a different attitude and everyone has a different belief but these two should not affect the way you are meant to work there has to be a certain way to work because if everyone worked different the way they should be working then it can go wrong the quality of work should be the amount of effort you put into it . 2.1 -Explain why reflecting on practice is an important way to develop knowledge, skills and practice Learning activities can improve an individual’s knowledge skill set and understanding by providing you with new ideas, such as something you haven’t encountered before. Learning activities also give the individual new areas of learning, such as subjects and topics that you may have not previously worked on before. With extra knowledge and skills you get more confident in your work because you have the knowledge and skills to do so. 2.2 -Assess how well own knowledge, skills and understanding meet standards.
