Is money the most important thing in life?
Money spins the world around, and people seem to jump on the carousel while leaving behind the barter system on the dusty ground of old centuries. What is the role of money in our life? Is money everything? Some people tend to think that money is the most important thing in life, whereas others think it’s only a mean to achieve their hopes and dreams. There are several reasons that show why this issue is controversial; they will be discussed in order to reach a solution or find a proper balance between the two. People work hard to earn a decent income. Some of them are willing to work even harder in order to taste the luxuries that life has to offer. For these people, money provides security and stability. It enables them to travel the world, dine in expensive restaurants, purchase a house in the suburbs and an extravagant automobile. Their whole life is surrounded by materialism. Moreover, money gives them the protection they need to stay out of poverty. It makes them feel secure and understand that as long as they have it, their social status will be maintained. So what does money bring- freedom or dependence? While others think money is a measure of success and comfort in life, others determine their way of life according to satisfaction. These people couldn’t care less about having little money, as long as they have enough for achieving their dreams and goals. Their goal isn’t being secure nor is it being rich; it’s about taking the journey to true happiness. Can satisfaction bring happiness? And if it can, can poor people be happy? When people are too worried about their bills and mortgages, their happiness can be damaged due to stress and problems within the family. Thus, a shortage of money prevents people from achieving their desires and ambitions, so humans need money as a means for achieving their target.
