James addresses the emotional appeal, also known as Pathos, multiple times in this article. The first example is “dance is a form of celebration. It is artistic.” Dance is considered an art instead of a sport because of the ability the dancers have to turn their bodies into art pieces. It is considered a celebration because dance celebrates music and movement. Dancers tend to become emotionally attached to the piece of music they are dancing to and are able to create a story with their movement, they have to ability to bring a piece of music to life, which is why it is considered an art or celebration.
All the colors, those huge skirts, and all that makeup just resemblance happiness. When I dance it seems I’m in another world, I enjoy it so much. It doesn’t matter how big or small the audience is; the feeling is the same. As a little girl I didn’t put that much of attention to a
I also hope to learn many different types of dance and understand where they developed. I like to hope that this class will help me learn to be more fluent with my motions and that I will be able to achieve the basic concept rhythm. I hope that through dance I will be able to use it as a stress reliever and that my body will take well to the new adventure it is about to endure. I’d like to take away new skills from the class and be able to use them to achieve fluent dance movements and become one with my body. I am excited to see the way in which my mind and body will connect together as one.
Ary’Anah Walker Informative speech Specific Purpose: I want my audience to know the health benefits of dance therapy. Thesis: Dance isn’t only a way to have fun; it’s also a way to keep you healthy and sane. Introduction Attention getter: “I see dance being used as communication between body and soul, to express what it too deep to find for words.” This quote is said by Ruth St. Denis. I feel like this quote expresses how dance can really help you express your emotions. Credibility: I’ve danced for ten years of my life.
Another common use of dance or movement was to worship or entertain. Great kings or rulers often had dancers to keep then amused during the day. However, rulers weren’t the only ones worshiped my dancers. The art of dance was also used to worship gods or divine beings. Some worship dances were wild and fun, while others were very serious and organized.
When my dance teacher informed me that she would soon be offering tap dance, I could not help but feel the need to participate. I enjoyed it so much that I enjoyed it for six years. Because dance had many different styles, using my years of experience in ballet and tap, I would like to examine some differences between the two through the different footwear, appropriate environment, and finally public knowledge and popularity. When it comes to the footwear, there are huge differences. Tap shoes are special since they are made specifically to make noise while dancing in them.
These roles all come together to tell a story, to celebrate, to uplift, inspire, and to recognize events that take place in their culture. The Indians believed that dances were rooted in places, animals, weather and spirits. No other form of communication with the spirit world was as adequate or complete compared to dance (Medicine of the Brave). There were dance rituals acknowledging changes in the human life cycle-birth, puberry marriage and death-as well as seasonal change in nature. There were dances to welcome strangers, to create ceremonial friendship, to bring good luck in times of war and hunting, to cure illness and to make peace.
Page 1 Anna Halprin: Breath Made Visible The title of the film is Breath Made Visible and the main artists featured where Anna Halpin, Merce Cunningham, John Graham, and A.A. Leath. In the movie, all these artists where at some point team mates and danced together. Although the group ended up separating, their bond and love for each other still remains. I think it was awesome that after all those years they are still friends and keep in touch, that also shows they have a good relationship. The artists were very close and they all loved to dance together and learned from each other.
Others find it in outdoor adventures such as camping, bungee-jumping, or water skiing; still, others find it in high-risk exploits such as drag racing, sky-diving, or mountain climbing. This list of nine activities is meager compared to the myriad of ways we can express ourselves and find a bit of freedom. Indeed, I find liberation in music and dancing. Expressing myself with dance consists of not only physical movement and sensations, but also spiritual stirrings that give rise to spontaneous, pleasurable abandon that I experience as freedom. With the first notes of a song colliding with my eardrums, I am consistently drawn to the realm of dance.
Although a realistic scene with people and objects of more or less natural appearances is depicted, the artist was creative in designing each segment and the whole. Natural contours are reshaped for purposes of greater dramatic expression, characterization, and variation. The size of the shoulders and arms of the dancer at the left is exaggerated in comparison with his legs; how the total contour is simplified and made into an interesting pattern; and how the mood of dance is dramatized by the exaggerated curve of his body and the angle of his knees. Notice these same things in the figure of the woman with whom he is dancing--the carefully felt pattern contours of shoulders, costume, and foot, the rhythmic lines in her hat and dress that add to the particular jumping motion that is her part in the dance. Other creative aspects of this painting will be brought out as its structure is studied, showing how the natural objects are reshaped, placed, and molded into the net plastic expression.
