Systems Management 2. Network Management 3. Storage Management Vendors that provide services and equipment to aid in this regard are HP, IBM, and Microsoft. Systems management is dealing with software changes and implementation, this will also include the computers themselves used in the business. Network Management has to do with a number of things including security, but mostly network hardware and connectivity or cabling.
Lab 1.1: Operating Systems Functions and Memory Management What are the major functions of an operating system? An operating system’s major functions include: Managing hardware resources Providing a stable, consistent interface for applications to communicate with computer hardware Monitoring system performance, debugging, and handling errors Controlling and managing processes submitted for execution in order to ensure efficient processing What is a file system and what are the three major file systems supported by windows? A file system is a way to store, retrieve and update a set of files Windows supports FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS file systems What are the limitations of these three file systems? FAT16 Root folder can only have 512 entries FAT16 is limited to 65536 clusters FAT16 is limited to maximum 4GB drive size No built in file system security FAT32 Largest volume (in Windows 2000) is 32GB Boot sector is not backed up No built in file system security NTFS Maximum cluster size is 64kB Maximum filename length is 255 characters What is the windows registry and what is its purpose? The windows registry is a database that stores configuration settings and options for Microsoft Windows.
Specific software or hardware must be available for testing, observation and study purposes. Whenever possible, these tools can be used to re-create the consumer’s problem. Both hardware and software products come with technical documentation, along with the general manuals, and should be made available when using its products. Online help developed for field technicians and helpdesk support staff is available for a product and allows searches by topics, words, error, and messages. Problem solving software is developed by experts; this software allows the helpdesk person to assess the informational database to make critical decisions when sorting targeted information.
Given a situation containing entities, business rules, and data requirements, create the conceptual model of the database using a database modeling tool. 3. Given an existing relational database schema, evaluate and alter the database design for efficiency. 4. Given an existing database structure demonstrating efficiency and integrity, design the physical tables.
The database administrator is usually responsible for installing and configuring the databases. This is a Microsoft environment so the databases are configured with both SQL and active directory authentication security
It is more commonly referred to as the computer processor. (Buzzle, n.d) The hard drive is where all the program files are stored for retrieval or further operation. The power supply unit is responsible for providing the system with power function. It is an electrical box fitted inside at the back of the cabinet, which connects to and powers the motherboard, disk drives, and other similar components. (Buzzle, n.d) There are many different types of application software.
PRG/211 Final Project Calorie Management 28 February 2014 Introduction Development teams and programmers possess the knowledge of writing code to educe the power of computers to solve problems and perform various tasks. Proper communication with customers and organizations ensures a thorough understanding of a particular problem so a program can be designed to meet needs and expectations of customers and organizations. Successfully solving problems with program software requires planning and analyzing to ensure all aspects of the problem meet the required expectations. “Planning your program using a sequence of steps referred to as the program development cycle, will enable you to use your time efficiently and will help you design error-free
Dear Mr. Sheehan, With the innovation of technology computer storage is constantly advancing. Hardware and software systems are also advancing with the times. In my report I will be providing you with specifications, requirements to implement, the costs involved with SAN and/or NAS, and how SMPR can benefit from these technologies. I will also touch base on secure remote access VPN, how this will help agents in the field with access problems, and how to secure clients project files. Storage Area Network, SAN, is unique because it links storage media with application servers.
Technology or Business Practice used to augment the solution A business practice that may be used to solve the problems of downsizing due to new software systems being introduced as well as competition from other retailers is enterprise software. Enterprise software is built around thousands of predefined business processes that reflect best practices. Especially when it comes to securing the website, this process would be most beneficial. A good example of this is found in SC Magazine: For IT Security Professionals (15476693); Aug2013, Vol. 24 Issue 8, p47-47, 1p, 1 Color Photograph.
Assignment 06 BZ400 Strategic Information Technology Explain what collaboration technologies are and then specifically describe the technologies of desktop videoconferencing, groupware (including two of its benefits), and electronic meeting systems. Collaboration technologies within an organization can be described in the context of when a team is formed to performed specific tasks. The team members are pooled from various departments who possess different skilled sets to perform the task better. If team members are pooled from different locations, collaboration and communication among team members is a big challenge. Organizations would need a tool which allows the team members from different locations to collaborate and work together.
