Computer Science 101 1. Explain the difference between portable Internet access and mobile Internet access? Mobile Internet access enables a user to use their smartphone or tablet to access the Internet while on the go over a cellular network. For some having this type of access 24/7 is no long a luxury but has become a necessity. Mobile Internet access gives the user a continuous Internet connection, as you’re out running errands, in your car or at work. It is similar to the way cell phone service is, while allowing you the freedom to connect and go about your daily activities, providing you stay within the coverage area or range of a tower since the signal is carried from one cellar tower to the next, and one of the fastest cellular technologies on the market today is HSUPA. Mobile Internet access includes WiMAX and broadband service. Portable Internet access allows the customer to easily move their Internet service from one location to another. However, you must remain in the one spot when it is time to use it. The difference would be with a portable Internet access you cannot work online while moving very far, portable Internet access requires cables, and portable Internet access requires a cell phone. Whereas a mobile Internet access is less expensive than portable Internet access, with mobile Internet access does not require cables, and mobile Internet access requires a notebook computer. 2 Explain what VoIP is and how it works. Voice over Internet Protocol basically allows you to make a phone call anywhere there is a broadband connection with your computer, eliminating the use of a landline phone.
