America has spent numerous amounts of money on strengthening our homeland security as well as border patrol, which have strengthened our defense but weakened our economy. Although some Americans feel much safer within our borders today, there are still many more that still have fear of those terrorists, but with all the new laws stemming from 9/11 people generally feel much safer in America than ever before. In conclusion, 9/11 has had many a huge impact in America in many ways both positive and negative. A positive impact of 9/11 is that Americans came together as one and showed they were there for one another when times got hard. A negative impact that 9/11 has had is the effect it has had on the economy and also with the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Interim Analysis Report CAMPAIGN FINANCE At a time when much of the world is emulating American values and institutions, too many Americans have lost confidence in their political system. They are turned off by a partisan debate that often seems to revolve not around opposing philosophies but around contending sets of interest groups. They believe that our current system for financing campaigns gives disproportionate power to wealthy individuals and groups and exerts too much influence over legislative and regulatory outcomes. Americans on both side of the aisle agree that the country faces pressing problems, from climate change, to health care reform, to the national debt. But none of this issue can be resolved, until we address the problems with the current political system itself.
After all, many believe that the commercial was used as a political statement to thank the Obama administration. Indeed, the argument seems to ignore the fact that if it had not been for Obama’s auto-industry bailout plan, Chrysler would be underwater. Although granted that the Obama administration saved Chrysler from liquidation, it is still maintained that Chrysler used the commercial as a way to show that the Chrysler Company is back from crisis and has beaten the odds. The “drama” of the visit created hype as never seen before.14 The American people believed in the sentimentality of the trip.15 They really thought that this trip would change the course of the whole world forever, which needless to say, it was not. Television turned “what should have been a useful, diplomatic operation into a theatrical piece,” remarked a disgusted writer of the time. He believes that television was used to make the trip more than it was. He thinks that the trip to China was “propaganda-d” into the hearts and minds of the American people to show Nixon as the favorable candidate.16 Gallup polls indicate that the President’s approval rating before the announcement of his trip to China was 40.2%. But after the announcement it rose to 49.7%, an increase of almost ten percent!17 It is clear that the Nixon administration wished for the visit to China to affect the voting preferences of the American people and to make them see their President in a new light.
I definitely think that the American primary system should be reformed. There reason why I think this, is because after analyzing the benefits of the current primary system and a potential reform I see more benefits for the citizens in selecting their presidential delegates in a national level than in the current method. It is true that the current primary system allows the American people to familiarize themselves with the potential candidates and that is a good featured.
The United States was now somewhat of an empire, albeit, not as great as the powers of Europe. However, despite the risks and punishment that America had to endure, this was the only way at the time to build the stepping stones for American prosperity. The United States was now engaged in the politics of Europe and the Far East. The war in the Philippines was also an unfortunate event that caused many Americans. However, I feel as though to do something great, you must venture somewhat into the unknown.
A culture with a strong belief in individualism emerged as a popular subculture. This caused the development of new, youth based, alternative sport cultures, which sought to provide alternatives to traditional sport. These “California sports,” are different from the traditional sports because they are more for fun or recreational purposes, not solely for competitive purposes. They are also unregulated, so the participants of the sport usually are the ones that enforce the rules. This enables the athlete to be more creative and possibly have more fun than if he or she were involved in a highly organized, more intense sport.
The candidates themselves complain that it distracts voters from the issues. Why, then, does negative campaigning continue? Some would say, because negative advertisements have been a fixture of political campaigning for more than 200 years. Others believe voters are swayed just as much by their emotional reaction as by their reason.
