Madonna, David Bowie, Elton John. What do all of these artists have in common? They one way or another have influenced the legendary Lady Gaga. Whether it is her music, fashion, or way of life. These people and things have had an affect on the formation of Lady Gaga. Some of the above helped her transform from the lesser-known Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta into the global superstar, Lady Gaga. On August 16, 1958 a star was born in Bay City, Michigan. Her name was Madonna Louise Ciccone. Today she is known solely as Madonna. Her first album was released in 1983. Before this, like many other famous singers, including Gaga, she dropped out of college and moved to New York City to pursue a career in dance. After her first album dropped, she kept on churning out one hit after another. Some of her number one’s include “Vogue”, “Like A Virgin”, “Express Yourself” and “Papa Don’t Preach.” Madonna has dabbled into the film industry, but it is clear that music is her calling. She has sold over 300 million records worldwide, and according to Guinness World Records she is the top selling female recording artist of all time. There are several similarities between Lady Gaga and Madonna that it is obvious that Madonna was a big, if not biggest, influence on Lady Gaga. Their life paths are very similar. Both were born into Italian American families and eventually dropped out of college to break into the entertainment industry. The main influence Madonna has over Lady Gaga is the style of music they both create. In the eyes of many music moguls, they are the two queens of pop music. There is even claims that Lady Gaga has not been just influenced by Madonna, but straight up copying her work.
