But the Savior taught that true freedom comes only from following Him: “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31–32). God gives commandments for our benefit. They are loving instructions for our happiness and for our physical and spiritual well
Our focus as believers, for ourselves, is to love and worship God, to uplift Him in everything we do, to glorify Him in our lives, to love those around us, to be a light in a dark world, and to share God’s love with everyone around us. It ultimately comes back to us serving God and pleasing Him (Crabb, 1977, p. 21). As Psalm 144:15 states, “Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord”. Rather than seeking happiness, one should focus their efforts on seeking God. From there, true happiness will emerge.
As we can see, Equiano became free with the help of self-reliance which is indispensable for those who also want to become free not only physically but also mentally and spiritually. You need this skill because there are occasions in life where you are alone; no one stands behind you and makes the choice instead of you. Christianity is also an important factor in Equiano’s life. As Martin writes in the critical reading ‘God helps those who help themselves’ (Martin, 257). Belief is a clambering for everyone just like for Equiano.
In conclusion, the message that Psalm 28 has to offer is that the people of God can pray for aid in times of need to their Lord. He will provide reliable guidance and salvation to those who have shown their commitment to him and those who haven’t will receive consequences that are justly
The first principle is humble your heart, which Wilkes mentions, “ True humility does not lead to exhaustion but frees us to serve others” (Wilkes, 1998, p.37). It illustrates the significance role of “true humility” to servant leadership. In addition, this phrase emphasize the humbleness is comes from the leaders own heart like Jesus. To achieve humbleness, which is not as easy as present in the book. Considering other in the first place, providing service with one’s own willing, waiting the assignment from God, and having unique characteristics are the key to success.
If we are able to do this, God will take note of our faithfulness by rewarding us with eternal life with him in heaven. God praises those who have the courage to do what is right and knows who takes value of his love by the actions in which we show. In the movie John Q, all the Beatitudes have been shown, and most of them have been ignored. Throughout the movie John Q is made to be merciful, to try and make peace, to be pure but mostly John has to fight for justice because of the problems he faces and the life morals he values. John can be related to every single one of the Beatitudes.
It shows Christians that they should help everyone who is in need, leaving no one behind. Jesus also has the Commandment of Love, ‘you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart ... You shall love your neighbour as yourself’. The Commandments of Love underpins the relationship between God and his believers. The Ten Commandments are a list of religious rules given to the people of Israel by God. It outlines the behaviours that are not allowed personally or not to be tolerated in others.
“Everything is possible to one who has faith.” (Mk 9:35) -This is one of my life mottos. There are no limits with God. The word impossible simply states “I’m possible.” God will provide, but we must believe in Him unconditionally and trust that He will take care of us and not force us through anything that we can’t handle or won’t ultimately make us into a stronger, better person. 6. “Watch and pray that you may not undergo the test.
A benefit for my position would be that you don't have to do something just because some deity or someone says its right. You do something because you know its right. Also, you are not restricted in what you do by something. You can live your life how you want to. But a drawback would be that you wouldn't be living for goodness or for a deity, you would be living for yourself and this could seem selfish to some.
“Good People” In a way we’re all the same. We believe in one God, just the name has changed. A God who puts love, faith and humanity in our hands. To govern these elements in the right way can put doubt and trouble into your life, and how do we even govern them? And if we do govern them and it’s wrong, how do we correct?
