Compare and contrast inner beauty and outer beauty “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” A typical saying that describes “beauty” of a person is determined by ones preference. Is everyone beautiful? Not many people would say that. We are not familiar with someone saying, “Oh, this girl is beautiful, she catches my eyes.” Maybe she has a good-looking face, slim body with a nice smile. We may focus too much on appearance in our daily life. However, we should also consider what is in ones heart, which called “inner beauty”. “Inner beauty” is something about ones personality, feelings, behaviors and manners of dealing with people. It is of paramount importance to look at someone’s inner beauty because it is the only thing to distinguish people from good to bad. In this essay, we are going to do some comparisons between “inner beauty” and “outer beauty” in three aspects. First of all, outer beauty can be changing over time while inner beauty is remaining the same. People can make themselves look beautiful with many techniques and methods such as put up cosmetics or undergo plastic surgery. According to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (2011), “15 million people across the globe turned to plastic surgery to enhance their looks.” They may have distinctive differences after surgeries. In this day and age, we can hide or modify our actual appearance through technical methods. Hence, our looks can vary over time to time. On the other hand, inner beauty is related to our soul and remains unchanged. Personalities of a person are naturally born since he or she was a baby and related to who we are. Loren (Italy) once stated that “Beauty is how you feel inside and it reflects in you eyes. It is not something physical.” Inner beauty is all about our minds and things inside our hearts. It can be our own feelings, personalities and how we treat others.
