HRD 276 | Informal Interview | Assignment 1 | Pamela Powers September 21, 2010 | I performed a telephone interview on September 18, 2010 with Linda Lentz, Deputy Auditor, Monroe County Government. Although Linda is not currently in a human resource position, her job duties are similar to the expectations of an HRD professional. Linda is currently a certified PHR. In Linda's previous position, she was organizationally identified as an HRD human resource professional. Linda was involved in an internal training program where she developed her competency skills. One for which her previous employer supported and provided the tools necessary for Linda to obtain her PHR certification. Her duties included maintaining accounts using accounts payable and accounts receivable procedures and payroll. Her earnings were $47,500 annually in her position. According to Linda, the salary ranges from $40,000 up to $147,000 annually depending on the position, and is based on educational background, experience, and the size of the company. Unfortunately due to economic constraints, the employer relocated to another country. Linda enjoyed the aspect of being a mediator and establishing effective working relationships between employees and the employer. In order to excel in any branch of a human resource department, she feels that the individual needs to possess the ability to comprehend and interpret policies and procedures. And to build trust with the employer by maintaining compliance by adhering to state and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines. Linda expressed that strong interpersonal skills and time management is essential. According to Linda, an advantage of the position is to be a communicator between the employee and the organization.
