I think that cultural industries such as television, films, music or literature affect and shape the behavior and thinking of young people. I believe that television is the most powerful communication media affecting young people. Television is mostly composed of programs showing violence and sex. And this is not a good influence for young people because they learn things that they see on television. For example, back in Spain, I used to watch a very famous cartoon, “Dragon Ball Z”, in which the most part of the time they were fighting each other, there was more fight than conversation. So I don’t think that this is a very good influence due to encourage people to be violent. In my case, I remember that everybody that used to watch this cartoon were like trying to imitate the characters, saying the same things and fighting each other like in the cartoon. Another thing that affects behavior of young people may be the films or series on television. For instance, if you used to see young adult dramas, when you engage in a relationship you would thing about yourself as another character in the drama and say things and act as the actors in the drama do. Another source that affects young people could be literature. For example, if you like to read a lot of books or poesy you may be tempted of saying those nice words to the girl that you like or to some other persons. But were I’m going to focus more attention on this essay is the influence of rock music in social life. I think that rocks music is a socially-culturally destructive force that is also an infantile art form. Rock music affects American youth to rebel against the society and affects their education and imagination preventing them from having a successful future.
