1. INTRODUCTION This paper is about a teaching process that is planned to be presented at a primary school. The students are in elementary level and they need to be entertained while learning. The topic to be taught is regular and irregular verbs in simple past tense. The length of the lesson is 45 minutes. Four major skills, reading, speaking, listening and writing, will be used. Students are expected to learn how to use simple past tense in daily life while communicating at the end of the lesson. Inductive approach will be used as the primary teaching method with the assist of communicative language teaching method. The definition of inductive method is as Decoo states “Exposure to instances of language use, from which learners gather patterns of use, goes from the specific to the general, namely first the real language use, from which will 'emerge' patterns and generalizations” (1996). On the other side, the communicative approach can be defined as teaching oral communication. The main goal in this paper is to teach children how to communicate in foreign language effectively. 2. WARM UP ACTIVITY In this part, the teacher gives student the following reading paragraph and asks them to read. This activity as a whole takes up 13 minutes of the lesson. “Yesterday Mrs. Hubbard had a very rough day. In the morning, she went to the kitchen and looked in the cupboard for some food for her dog, but the cupboard was empty. Her poor dog stared up at her with its hungry eyes, and she knew she had to do something quickly. She hurried to the grocery store to buy some dog food, but unfortunately the store was out of her dog's favorite brand, so she had to catch a bus downtown. After buying the food, she waited for a half hour in the rain to get a taxi. When she finally got home, ” As soon as they finished
