I’ve had an experience in which the minutes I took weren’t written effectively, therefore everyone ended up going in different directions & then had to meet again for the same original purpose. Whereas if the meeting minutes are written well, everyone gets the same notes and are all on the same page. Everything that I’ve learned in school and even on my job has helped me in my adult life to be able to write resumes, cover letters, applications, etc. Even in my personal life as a mom, everyday my son comes to me for pen and paper. Because He’s only 23 months, He scribbles all over the paper but I still feel that it’s my obligation as a parent to take his hand and guide him.
I saw a significant difference between my behavioral meetings during the first semester and those that occurred while I was in the Counseling Techniques course. When I asked a student how the year was going, or what motivated them to violate a policy, I started actually listening to what the student was saying. I paid special attention so that I could recognize any signs of a deeper
The counseling department helped me a lot in many ways. My counselor gave me valuable advice on which classes to take and the path to transfer to the right school. At first I was confuse and lost on which classes to take for my major and my counselor helped me a lot. Also we had one on one conversation about what I
It was my first placement on a rehabilitation and palliative care ward. I was working a late so before me and my mentor finished we had to handover the patient information to the nurses just coming on shift. In particular we had been caring for a patient with diabetes, we went through all of the
All it really takes is for one teacher, just one, to give you the extra push that you need to succeed academically. For me it was my high school history teacher Mr. Zigler. From my freshman to senior year of high school, Mr. Zigler would tutor me in all subjects to help me succeed and to help me get into advanced placement classes as well. Not only that, but I trusted him with everything, it was like he was my personal therapist in school, being that I didn’t have that at home. It was with his help that
These courses allowed me to be taught by actual elementary school teachers, who have years of experience with working with children, and the knowledge and advice they were able to pass on truly helped me better understand what I was signing up for as an education major, and helped my improve the way I teach so that I could articulate in a way that would be comprehensible to students of a young age. These classes are slowly molding me to become a great teacher. Also, I am doubling majoring in psychology in hopes that it will help me to better understand the mentality of special education students, so that in the future I will be able to teach them in a way that they will be able to grasp. Psychology courses have
CW2 1500 word academic evaluation of the teaching session This paper will academically evaluate the teaching session “ Recovery and My Shared Pathway (MSP) focused care planning”. The teaching session took place in a small meeting room of ward, those attending were two student nurses, a preceptorship nurse, two health care assistants, a substance misuse worker and a psychologist making a total of seven people. The author also chose to gain professional support from their mentor by asking for a peer supported review to gain insight into their own teaching methods (Peel 2005). Prior to the teaching session during clinical supervision the two students had identified that they were unaware of the “My Shared Pathway,(MSP)” until this placement area, justifying a positive self concept as self-directed adults taking responsibility for their own learning (Quinn 2001). They felt confident with some prior knowledge of the recovery approach, however it was mutually agreed that attending this teaching session would be beneficial to both their current and future practice. By identifying the students learning needs I was also able to recognise what I would have to do to facilitate an environment that would be conductive of learning for everyone.
Page 1 Counselling sessions were designed to help people work through a range of personal issues from depression, relationship issues, addictions, grief, anxiety and potentially life threatening situations. This reflective essay has been drafted from a real life counselling session, which was undertaken by a professional counsellor. In this reflective essay, I put theory to practice by reflecting and analyzing a fifty minute couselling session. Before the counselling session I was very unsure of what to expect and extremely nervous as I had not previously attended a professional counselling session. On my way to the session, my feelings of nervousness and anxiousness become stronger as I practiced the things that I was planning on saying.
Imagine you are Miss Caroline. Write a letter to a friend, where you recount your experiences of your first day teaching at May comb County Primary Dear Prue, My first day teaching at May Comb County was a fascinating experience that has enabled me to learn a large amount about the town of May comb and the students in my class. I would have presumed for only the first grade, a large majority of the class would hardly know the alphabet but I was very mistaken. Every boy and girl in the classroom knew the alphabet from back to front, at first I thought this was just outstanding until I realised that the majority of them had repeated the first grade. I’ve learnt that these children do not have patience or respect, while I was trying to teach they a story they were squirming round like pigs.
Running head: JOURNAL OF PSYCHOLOGY The Cognitive, Emotional, and Relational Characteristics of Master Therapists. Joseph Kimani COUN 501 Journal Article Summary # 1 Dr. Stan McGregor, August, 31st 2009. Counseling Psychology Over the years, many researchers have spent time to reanalyze interview data from a previous qualitative study of the personal characteristics of master therapists (Jennings & Skovholt, 1999). Previous research has demonstrated that therapists utilize a variety of resources when making ethical decisions, including professional codes of conduct and their own values. Making the best ethical decisions can be extremely challenging for most therapists due to the multitude of complex ethical situations that arise in practice.
