Prompt: ‘In the end, we are always forced to face reality”. A creature lives within the subconscious mind of every being. This creature lures us away from the dark confrontations of hardship, to seek refuge in a place which appears much more palatable and alluring than realism. It urges us to create facades, and immerse ourselves in behaviors that allow us to feel pleasure in an otherwise bleak situation. So much so, that we begin to invest much of ourselves to this consuming entity, and when unchecked, it can derail us from our sanity. This is when we are forced to battle this creature, to undergo a cruel awakening, as the alternative is, plunging into a fictional existence that has little prospect of return. This creature is part of the human condition. We might evade reality to hide from a past that is riddled with pain and suffering, and by withdrawing from reality we are able to cling to the hope and optimism the harsh external world threatens all too often. Sometimes, hiding in delusions is the only way we are able to control our reality to some extent, and at times it proves to be the only source from which we are able to draw strength.
