What is important in the body for several reasons? Water is essential to life and to both individual life and for the planet. Water performs a number of important biological functions, which will be explored in this assignment. Water is your body’s most important nutrients it’s involved in every bodily function and makes up 70-75% of your total body weight. Water helps you maintain your body’s temperature. (C, J Clegg,1994,Biology Principles & Applications) it’s used to moisten tissues such as those in the mouth, eyes and the nose it also protects the body’s organ and tissues. Water has many uses in the body because it helps transport food materials, such as glucose around your body, it is a fact that that water acts like a lubricant it also helps to remove soluble waste substances, such as your urine and other substances form the body. Water is so important to the normal functioning of the body, that even a small amount of dehydration can cause death. There’s Water all around us and it’s a little molecule that is found in the air,it makes up all the rivers and streams and its important to life more than anything eles on the planet. Its recommended that you consume in your body around eight glasses of water a day. (D Wright, 2000 Human physiology and health, Heinemann, Oxford) As the body can’t store water, we need fresh supplies every day to make up for loses from lungs, skin, urine .The amount of water we need depends on your metabolism and also the weather, if it was very humid outside or just generally very hot your body would naturally sweat and this process your body will loose fluid, not a considerable amount but enough to make you want to need fluid, I think also depending on our general activities too, if you were very active it would be a known as a fact that your body would need more fluids.(www.thefactsaboutwater.org 4.11.20012) Water as a
