IMPACT OF NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGY ON THE ENVIRONMENT For years now, a solution for alternative energy has existed. As we all know it the rate of which fossil fuels are extracted is increasing exponentially due to some factors like increase of population. In the 21st century electricity is no longer a commodity, but a necessity. As a result nuclear technology was introduced. Nuclear energy stands on the border between humanity’s greatest hopes and its deepest tear for the future. Nuclear technology is quiet simple since all you need is radioactive uranium bundle that converts water into steam causing the turbine to rotate thus water generating electricity. The water then acts as the reactors coolant, which makes atomic energy clean energy and finally making us independent from fossil fuels. An Additional form of nuclear energy that plays a destructive role, rather than a constructive one, is the Atomic Nuclear Bomb. A nuclear explosion occurs as a result of the rapid release or energy from an internationally high-speed nuclear reaction; therefore, making a nuclear bomb, nothing much, but a mere weapon of mass destruction. The ecological change in Nagasaki and Hiroshima was so drastic turn even today the ecosystem has yet to recover. The atomic bomb in Japan instantaneously killed 120,000 people and more over time due to radiation. According to the Chernobyl nuclear explosion that occurred in 1986 video, we learn that nuclear power plant not a force to be taken lightly. In just a few days it, turned a relatively beautiful city into a ghost town. It occurred as result of a flawed reactor design that was operated with inadequately train personnel. Thousand lost their homes and even lives due to the radioactive material that was released into the atmosphere.
