The Belbin team inventory also known as Belbin Self Perception Inventory or Belbin Team role Inventory is the personality test developed to measure the preference for nine different team roles (Belbin, 2003). The Belbin Team role inventory analyses how an individual actually behaves within a team environment. According to him, team roles are not similar to personality types. His inventory offers an account on how people strongly express different behavioural traits from nine various team roles. Any individual may and usually does show strong tendencies towards multiple roles (Belbin and Armstrong, 2004). The information supplemented in Belbin Team role Inventory or Belbin Team role theory can be integrated and interpreted to assess how effectively a team possesses the likelihood of working together, including the choosing of a best candidate to complete each role. The theory recognizes gaps and overlaps the distribution of team role, which might even have an influence on success of team. The Belbin Team Inventory may be also utilised in combination with the Belbin Job requirement inventory to assess the behavioural performance of the candidate in a specific job.
