I believe that most countries would not want Americans to be meddling the lands’ of others, day in and day out. In addition to that, it will only waste more money and more lives of U.S. soldiers that could be used far better elsewhere. If the U.S would stop fighting in unnecessary wars, then there will be fewer deaths. The U.S already have enough problems to deal with and the U.S. should not need to spend more money on unnecessary fights. If the U.S. would stop dealing
United States Special Operations Command: Terrifying to the Terrorists The United States Special Operations Community has adapted to numerous missions over time. The experienced and motivated operators of these elite units have the necessary tools and skills to fight the unconventional war on terror. When considering the modern war on terror, the primary thing that must be pointed out is it is not a conventional war. There are no front lines, the opposing combatants do not square off against each other and the winners and losers of each engagement are not always clear. Terrorists come from many different backgrounds, are highly trained and often religiously motivated.
I know what they do is for the benefit of everyone in this country and it is extremely hard to make the decision’s that is going to affect the way we live and how we live. This documentary relates to foreign policy to the different branches of government and how every decision is made. This relates to private parties like the ACLU to protect our civil liberties that were lost as a result of policies that expand the government’s power to invade people’s privacy and right to the First Amendment. It made clear that certain things that were unlawful like racial profiling and stopping anyone under suspicion was “ok.” Top Secret America is one of the many examples of what we do not know about our government. We do not take the time to pay attention to what is happening in this economy.
A terrorist threat/ attack and a nuclear threat are real attacks that still go on today in our country and our people are scared of. In my opinion both of them are alike. They make the government have to evaluate everything that is going on and it deters the economic growth in our community, on this causes the government to take advantage of their view of defense against an upcoming attack. A war and an attack such as 9/11 are two different types of attacks. And these are attacks that people will forever remember.
With this power in our political system nothing new ever gets a chance to be implemented into our lives. I mean I agree with Congress that such a big project would certainly be beneficial to the economy and open up a huge amount of job opportunities. The opposers believe that the issue will hurt the environment and this to them is too big of a risk to take. Well I’ve heard Obama state before we need to bring more jobs to our country at home, well wouldn’t this be a perfect chance at doing that? There are two branches of government here battling back and forth between the pros and cons of the proposed new project, but in my opinion the President is wrong and the pro’s certainly outweigh the
This was also a big reason why the American citizens were against the Vietnam War. After gathering an abundant amount information from various sources it’s safe to conclude that Vietcong is much more advanced and well prepared to war than Southern Vietnam and America. America didn’t have adequate tactics, and were poorly supported by their people. Alongside, Vietcong was well prepared as they had previous experience from the Guerrilla war and were aided by various other countries, which were close to their homeland. Also, the war occurred on Vietnamese ground, which was familiar to the Vietcong’s because they were able to use this information to their
In other cases, the state lacks the capacity or will to take action. And it’s also not possible for America to simply deploy a team of Special Forces to capture every terrorist. Even when such an approach may be possible, there are places where it would pose profound risks to our troops and local civilians -- where a terrorist compound cannot be breached without triggering a firefight with surrounding tribal communities, for example, that pose no threat to us; times when putting U.S. boots on the ground may trigger a major international crisis.” (President Obama, 2013) There are several international events in the past that can be traced back to a foreign policy created after the Civil War. * Platt Amendment of 1901, which allowed the U.S. to militarily intervene in Cuba whenever revolution threatened, would be one of the earlier actions that serve as an example of the U.S. interfering when we were not wanted. There was a lot of resentment from Cubans because they argued that it took away their independence.
Just as wars shouldn’t be, so the Soldiers can become forgotten and lost to present and future. Spreading Democracy by war, is the same like spreading Islam by terror. Which cause is the better? None of them, but both of them, draws power from conclusion that only they can make this world a better place for living. At least for short time, let’s leave the Nations of this world to choose their own way, the golden one.
While forcing American ideology in a part of the world that does not agree with it is foolish, the intentions were valid and invasions were necessary to keep the US standing following the Twin Towers attack. One could only imagine the world’s reaction to President Bush just sitting around, not fighting back after a large-scale attack on American soil. Weakness was not an option following an extreme attack; extreme retaliation was the only option. So extreme in fact, that many US families, and over 2 million US children, have suffered the consequences directly and indirectly. Many soldiers have returned with PTSD, and approximately 700,000 are left disabled.
Ernest Hemingway once said, “Never think that war, no matter how necessary, nor how justified, is not a crime.” This is a very profound statement, especially as our nation is still in the midst of a self-proclaimed “War on Terror”. What happened to our country and all of the innocent victims, on 9/11 was virtually unimaginable. However, this attack on our own soil has prompted many actions from our government that might be considered to be an affront to both our constitution as well as our judicial processes. Prisoners of war and even persons suspected of being involved with a terroristic group can be legally detained and held, for as long as we want, simply because we are in a “war”. If we are violating our own constitutional guidelines
