“They always played a big role in my life, and encouraged me to be a more open person… a more outspoken person.” Nai believes that this encouragement made her stronger in comparison to her initially shy and soft spoken personality. Now, Nai stands up for what she believes in and speaks out. At the age of 23 and out of foster care for five years, today Nai is studying to become a pharmacist at Stanislaus State University. When asked if she still has a relationship with her former foster family, Nai responds, “I’m definitely still really close to them. I visit them on holidays… I still call them mom and dad.
All it really takes is for one teacher, just one, to give you the extra push that you need to succeed academically. For me it was my high school history teacher Mr. Zigler. From my freshman to senior year of high school, Mr. Zigler would tutor me in all subjects to help me succeed and to help me get into advanced placement classes as well. Not only that, but I trusted him with everything, it was like he was my personal therapist in school, being that I didn’t have that at home. It was with his help that
Summary/ Response Assignment O`Malley, Patrick. “More Learning, More Testing” In “More Testing, More Learning,” Patrick O`Malley suggests that college professors should give tests to the students periodically in order for the students to learn more. Furthermore, more tests or exams will minimize the student’s stress because students will be more familiar with the subjects that are given to them. Like the author says, “If professors gave an additional brief exams at frequent intervals, student would learn more, study more regularly, worry less, and perform better on midterms, finals, and other papers and projects.” (O`Malley, pg. 488).
In my opinion I think I like all year around in school. If kids really look at it, we get alota days out for a break. Many schools also need to come on there education because the drop out rate may come back up if it already haven’t. Many schools say they do many things to help students and they really care about the students, blah blah blah, some schools are just all talk. Schools have at least a hand full of teachers that really care about the students life after high school, some teachers make sure that there students go to college and some don’t even care what goes on when were out of there classroom.
Cadet Zachery Merritt LET 3 Austin E. Lathrop High School Fairbanks,AK Why did I enroll in JROTC? There is something’s I don’t know in life since I am fairly new to the real world. I enrolled in the class called JROTC is because I like the way the classes are every day. The people are nice to be around & I have a good time there. My dad & mom were in JROTC and the said it would be good for me to be in.
This would also most likely be true for college students as well since college students, for the most part, are young and look up to celebrities. Towell’s article also talks about how students would also be interested in reading biographies written by a celebrity. Corey Taylor is a celebrity and the book he wrote is pretty much an autobiography, therefore based on this argument, this would be a good book for students to read. Towell’s article also makes a great conclusion; “if students are allowed to read about what really matters to them, they will become readers for life”
In the fall of 2010 I left BRCC with a degree in Liberal Arts and certificate in general studies. I am in my third semester at Southern and I am enjoying every minute and I could not be more proud of this institution despite what’s been said or what’s going on. After I receive my bachelors’ degree in Psychology and get certified in Health & Physical Education & Adapted Physical Education, I plan on getting my masters in Supervision and Administration. I chose teacher education program at Southern because of the quality teachers that have came through the SUBR teacher education program. I currently work with children with disability in the Zachary Community School System and love every minute because you get an opportunity to reach out to children who never really had chance and to be able to give them a chance is very rewarding.
Since freshman year, I have been enrolled in honors and A.P. classes, and am currently in my third year of Project Lead the Way; a college engineering course. During middle school I was a member of Team L.E.A.D., National Junior Honor Society and Student Service Council. Due to these groups, I now have experience with volunteer work, and have acquired a strong sense of leadership that is evident in my personality to this day. At Warren I am a member of F.B.L.A.
1) I am at Chadron State College to get a degree in Exercise Science. Growing up I made multiple visits to Chadron and have always thought CSC would be the perfect place to further my education. When time to choose a college actually came it turned out to be a tough decision, but since Chadron is so close to home and very affordable I decided that it would be the best fit. I also liked how most CSC graduates had lots of job opportunities right after graduation and am hoping for the same when it is my turn to graduate. 2) According to my time log my top three priorities are school, my family/friends and my health.
The Working Class Another benefit of having a job in high school is that teens are better prepared for college. Time management plays a major role on the success of any college student because they will have to divide their time into different sections, for example, to study, to do homework, to go out with friends, some to go to work, or even to catch up on some sleeping. Once in college, everyone is expected to be mature and to know how to make choices on their own; everyone must be responsible for their own acts and the decisions they make. One out of four freshman college students drop out within the first few months of their post secondary education; this shows that they had not ever taken a big challenge before.
