Social closeness – Social interaction is a big part of life whether it be a chat or a hug and service users are no different, it is always important to remember to include the service user in all conversations and to talk to them with dignity and respect, because if you exclude them they may feel sad or lonely and this could lead to depression or challenging behaviour. It is also important to show warmth and compassion towards each other, a smiling face and positive body language can be the difference between a good and bad day, also subtle signs of affection can make a big difference from a pat on the back to a hug or just words of encouragement this can help to develop positive relationships.
