These peers make appointments after school with the teacher whether it’s because they didn’t understand a certain topic, for better study habits, review, etc. They are also in a study group and meet every so often with them to go over material that they don’t understand or to help others with it. Those who are serious about their education, participate in class more. They do this as a means of showing that they understand the material. In every test or quiz given to them, they get mastery or above on them because they study and read over their notes every night.
Reflective Paper Juanita Ashley Ramsey MAT 213 July 23, 205 David Beames Reflective Paper MAT 213 Mathematics for Elementary Educators 1 has taught me so much in 5 weeks that will help me in the future. MAT 213 was so full of great and valuable information that will help me become a great math teacher. This course has addressed several major mathematical concepts and through the My Math Lab Mastery Points and Formative Assessments I have mastered many topics from problem solving, numeration systems and sets, whole numbers and their operations, number theory, integers, rational numbers and proportional reasoning, decimals: rational numbers and percent, real numbers and algebraic thinking. I came in this class thinking it was going to be really easy and I was wrong. This has been one of the hardest most challenging math classes I have ever taken.
The organization of the room allowed for successful learning and definitely attributed to successful classroom management. The objectives for each subject were posted in the front of the classroom on the whiteboard. Upon entering Mrs. Howell's classroom at 8:00 A.M., she was reviewing a math worksheet previously done the day before. Students were correcting their answers and answering questions by raising their hands. When Mrs. Howell called on students to answer her questions, she stated their first name every time and used positive feedback after each answer.
This week during meeting time, our group spoke about some of the challenges we were experiencing individually with the class as a whole. One of the topics that Brittnay struggled most involved graphs. Brittnay mentioned that she was able to consult with an old friend, and he was able to provide assisting with completing the assignments. He is a certified math tutor, and has a true love for math. Overall, Brittnay explained that she is very pleased with the interactions with group
This was a very pleasant and unforgettable experience for me and my fellow classmates. Monday through Thursday we were at our respectable classes and on Fridays we came back to our class and discussed how our week went. I learned that I love making children happy and it was right for me. I learned how to plan assignments that were fun and educational; this was because I worked with special needs children and the physical education class. I believe this would help me because it helped me open up and not be afraid to make sure the rules were followed, class ran smoothly, and everyone was safe.
Jessica Newton Professor Fiske Math History Oct 10, 2012 Math Doesn’t Suck by Danica McKellar In the book “Math Doesn’t Suck” Danica discusses many important math concepts. She also talks about her experiences with math and throws in some middle school humor to keep the reader interested. I believe she did a very good job on giving different techniques to use in the book for each concept she discusses. Danica McKellar covers a broad range of topics in her book ranging anywhere from factorization to solving for X, while giving great tips and techniques on how to better hone your mathematical skills. The first section in the book is about factors and multiples.
Admissions Committee, Being born and raised in Shippensburg I have always wanted to attend Shippensburg University. While in elementary school I was diagnosed with dyslexia and a slight learning disability. I was placed in the learning support program in the second grade using an IEP I was able to excel in all subjects maintaining a high GPA throughout high school. I excelled at mathematics and science courses often tutoring other students during free time. I am proud to be a 2010 graduate of Shippensburg Area Senior High school where I have found memories of the teaching staff and all the help they provided.
Motivated to earn a degree, I did not let that stop me from achieving my dreams. I came prepared and eager to learn in my class every day. After one month, my high school counselor told me great news, “Based on your translated transcript, you have course credits more than we require, and based on your current grades, you performed well. You are ready to be in the senior level.” Given the opportunity, I did not waste my time lingering around. I asked one of my teachers where she graduated and she said proudly, “University of Michigan”.

I greatly appreciate the opportunity to observe what a great class you have and what an amazing teacher you are. While observing your class on Friday morning I noticed a few things. First of all I noticed what a wonderful, caring, and extremely friendly personality you have towards your young students. You seem to love your job very much because of your demeanor during class.
For instance in her algebra class , when her teacher explains the way to solve the problem or what ever they may be learning that day she would understand it the first time she hears him explain it. She always wants to know something new. Jasmine is very sweet and she can get along with everyone that come in contact with her. She will also help anyone that needs help. She would try to help someone with there work even if she doesn't know how to do it.
