It's what taught me to be independent and to follow my dreams. For example, I always do what I think is right, I don't depend on other people for anything, and I work my hardest in anything I do because I know that my choices will reflect my future as I get older and will determine how successful I will be in life. This is very significant because as a child and as a teenager, being a leader and being independent isn't always the easiest thing. Another quote is "Be the change you wish to see in the world." This quote encouraged me to get involved doing and enjoying volunteer work in my community.
The Scarlet Ibis Essay For the longest time, I always thought of pride in only one way, like a one-way street. I have always felt that pride was gained from accomplishing something good, and I never thought once that pride could ever be considered a bad quality. I never even realized that it was a sin. But, after reading The Scarlet Ibis, I have learned that having pride in yourself and others is a great thing, but that it can reach a very dangerous extent. Throughout this story, I have learned that there is a fine line with pride.
AP Literature 1 September 2013 The Personal Statement (Prompt 2) Dedication Dedication is a quality that is severely important to me; it drives me to be the best person I can be. Whether it’s in school, sports, or other activities. I have been in stages of my life where I have wanted to just quit; I wanted to just give up, but I have pushed through those obstacles by committing hard work and dedication. Dedication to me is when you have an absolute love for something, and you do whatever it takes to be the best you can be at it, whether its in academics, sports, music, or any ability you wish to get better at, or to be the best you can be. You can set your goals, but without dedication you
During high school, college, and even the years after that he always wanted to be seen and seen as the best. He saw himself as the best, believing no one could beat him, and he wanted everyone to recognize his greatness. In fact “more often than not Fitzgerald modeled his characters after himself.” (Weisbrod) In similar fashion to his characters he was constantly seeking the approval of others. F. Scott Fitzgerald put many elements and traits of himself, both good and bad, into The Great Gatsby’s main character Jay Gatsby. A main link between the author and his character was the search for that which appeared unobtainable.
20TH Century U.S. History U.S. leaders throughout history have always tried to do the right thing in my opinion. I would have to give them a grade of a B+. I give them this grade because they have in the most part tried to help everyone they can. But in reality you cannot help everyone. We as a nation, I believe have always tried to come to the aide of anyone we can.
We were all taught that if we strive for what we seek, we eventually will succeed. The JROTC program showed me leadership, better communication skills, and being loyal and patriotic. Though it was a scary experience in the beginning, I eventually met my expectations. It also showed me that we sometimes think negatively about some things because we may not know where it might lead us. The quote, “Don’t let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game,” is what spurred me to continue in this program without fearing anything, until I was able to achieve success.
I still have a passion for people and the subject matter that it involves. After shadowing some PA’s, I now have a greater sense of what the profession stands for and what one does in the profession, and it only makes me work harder towards my goal of having a long-term career as a physician assistant. There are so many other students around me that have no idea what they want to do with the rest of their lives, and I feel so lucky to know what I want to be when I “grow-up”, so to speak. I cannot picture myself doing anything else, and I can’t wait to move forward to achieve my goal of becoming a physician
I am here because I wanted and still do want the people to have justice, I want the people to know. If I could go back and do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a single thing I did. I wouldn’t change a thing because there is nothing to change when one is doing something on the behalf of the public. Many might call me a traitor, others a hero, but titles do not matter. I know what I did, I know why I did it, and I do not half to explain my actions to anyone who challenge them.
In the future, if New York were to obtain the same law as New Jersey regarding the ease of legal obtainment of marijuana, my moral limitations would not change though my legal limitations would. My moral limitations will change in the future as I grow as a person. Though many will remain the same some aspects will become more important to me, such as my children being my highest priority, and loyalty to my boss at work. Though these limitations will affect my freedom in the future, I’m sure there are many more that will do the same. Limitations on freedom will always exist, as they did during the Red Scare, as they do now, and as they will in the future.
Now my only struggle is to help and provide for my family and make them proud. My parents are getting older and so am I, I know soon I will have to leave the nest and eventually go build my own so I try to enjoy them as much as I can because I know this is part of the cycle of life. I will always have them in my mind and value the things they did for me and thought me. My family will always come first and I know if they ever needed me I will be there for them the same way they were there for me all my life. I love them to death and I know the strengths and knowledge they gave me will forever be in
