His senses and common sense to evaluate the food, knowing the dumpsters of a given area and checking them regularly, and always answering the question “why was this discarded?” For example, there was a time where he would survive off of a dumpster behind a pizzeria. He realized that they discard whole pizzas that customers have sent back if the order was wrong, or pizzas that were left over at the end of the day. Eighner even admits to gaining a few extra pounds while living from this dumpster. Food isn’t the only thing Dumpster Divers scavenge for. They also find clothes, candles, bedding, toilet paper, medicine, books, furnishing, and change, sometimes amounting to many dollars.
Auditing standards also require that they communicate certain other matters to those charged with governance upon completion of the audit. Auditors often make suggestions to management to improve performance (Arens, Elder, & Beasley, 2012). The following is a list of internal control weaknesses of SDF: 1. There is a lack of presence on the premises. Everyone takes a lunch break at the same time leaving the opportunity open for something such as theft take place.
On the other hand, a fun fact is if I spit on the streets, it is okay. Apparently, that is not considered littering in Boston. It is illegal in some states though, or so I heard. So not everyone is like me, we are all individuals. The person behind me on the streets could have littered and purposely did not use the trashcan.
Dumpster Diving Response Lars Eighner’s “Dumpster Diving” changed my beliefs of the homeless by giving insight on what it truly means to be a scavenger. My original thoughts of people living on the streets are that they were lazy high school drop outs, alcoholics, or drug addicts that could not sustain any job. I have not actually talked to a homeless person to hear their side of the story, but my assumptions were based off of my personal experiences with the homeless. One time my father and I were walking up to the entrance of a McDonalds in Sacramento, and this man was asking for change. He was obviously homeless, but the part of me that felt sorry for the guy and wanted to give him change was quickly stopped by the curious side that was asking why the man had scars up and down his arms and a dog in his possession.
I was sixteen when I got pregnant. I moved in with my boyfriend and later got married. I didn’t worked through my pregnancy but after the nine months, my husband couldn’t pay the bill any longer so I had to go back to work. I applied in different restaurants and I finally herd back from a Native American Restaurant. I wasn’t happy with my life, but that is the life I chose.
Most went to my school as well and we had some similar interest in sports and cars. Unfortunately, the store was closing down and I need to find another part time job. Once again I landed another fast food gig. This time it was at Hardees as a cashier for the front counter. I had never experienced the money handling portion of the industry.
At the age of five years old my parents were drug addicts and always fighting and arguing so they never could agree to be together for me. My father left my mom for someone else. At the age of seven years old I was forced to move with my auntie because my mother was not able to care for me anymore. Her addiction had taken over. I would see her all the time but it was so hard because I was so young experiences it.
Malcolm X’s childhood played a big role in his life. His father was lynched, the welfare and insurance companies destroyed his family, and his mother became mentally unstable. If that is not a nightmare, I don’t know what is. “Nightmare” is definitely an appropriate title for chapter one because of these tragic events that destroyed his family. Malcolm X’s father Earl Little was a social activist for the fight against racism and was apart of the great Marcus Garvey organization, the Universal Negro Improvement Association.
This is harmful to sea animals, whose homes are unfortunately filled with this nonsense. Littering is a problem in the community that is not necessary. One reason people litter is because there is nowhere to put trash when walking down the street. There are many convenience stores but no waste baskets to toss trash. A simple solution is the city can put public trash and recycling boxes around each neighborhood.
Our unit was split up by platoons from Kandahar to Khost. There wasn’t much there we had a gym in a tent, a chow tent that could fit about 50 people, 20 port-a-jons, and a shower tent. It was a rough year for us all to say the least. It was just another day going out on patrol walking through the local market trying to just let our presents be known and looking for the bad guys. We had no idea who the bad guys were or even what they looked like.
