Nuclear energy is a clean and very sustainable source of energy. Australia has the resources and the skills to go nuclear. The debate about Nuclear versus Coal has come and gone as time has gone by. Nuclear energy does not produce green house gases but a little toxic waste. The toxic waste can be managed by treating it well and burying it underground.
The mechanical power is converted into electricity to power homes and businesses. Wind plants produce electricity that emits zero pollutants. The environmental concern from the wind power plants is minimal; the problems that arise are the noise created from the rotator blades and the killing of birds by flying into the blades. With some technological advances, that issue was drastically reduced. Another major challenge is that the wind does not blow all the time, therefore, the turbines do not spin and no power is created during these
Nuclear power itself is very simular to renewable energy and emits close to no green house gasses. Many positive benefits would come out of embracing nuclear energy in Australia. Australia is in a good geological positioned and nuclear power is a safe, reliable way to provide energy to Australia. Nuclear does not necessarily have to be the only form of energy but is one that can supply enough energy to the wide range of large industries throughout
Natural gas is an energy source that is clean, safe and extremely useful. Natural gas is colorless, odorless, and shapeless when it is in its pure form (Naturalgas.org). This gas however gives off a great deal of energy when it is burned. Natural gas can directly play a part in reducing greenhouse emissions, strengthening energy security and helping the growing economy (aga.org). The United States consumes roughly 600 billion cubic meters of natural gas every year while we only produce about 500 billion cubic meters.
The issue: Is hydraulic fracturing, or hydrofracking, a safe way to extract natural gas, a much needed energy resource? Or could it contaminate drinking water and cause other environmental damage? * Supporters of hydrofracking say: There is no proven case of hydrofracking contaminating drinking water, and the process is perfectly safe. Natural gas can revive local economies, reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil and provide a cleaner-burning fossil fuel. Further regulation is unnecessary and will only prevent an opportunity for the U.S. to develop an alternative energy source and create jobs.
The hydro-prop presented the river’s velocity very clearly on the monitor that was attached to its propeller. The hydro-prop converted the reading to metre per second automatically which saved us time when presenting the data as we did not have to do any further calculations to present the data given by the hydro-prop as a graph. Overall the hydro-prop was a great piece of equipment to work with however it subject to a few anomalies as it became clear that any obstacles such as rocks that were in front of the propeller would give untrue reading creating some anomalous results. Another piece of modern technology we used during an investigation was the use the computer programme called ‘Fieldworks Software Hydrology Module’. We used the piece of computer software when presenting our data that we attained when investigating the river Burbage.
“When The Wind Blows” By: James Head In the wake of the earthquake off the shore of Japan that caused several Nuclear Reactors to fail, the need for safe, clean energy is becoming a hotter topic on the minds of many people throughout the world. So, why not use the wind? Advances in modern technology have enabled us over time to redesign windmills so that they can be used to generate clean energy, which in many cases can be wired directly into the power system that is already in place around the U.S. This is without a doubt a major plus considering that windmills are able to produce electricity without nuclear capabilities or the burning of Fossil Fuels that in turn release Co2 and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This being
Solar energy is a non-pollutant, cost effective, maintenance free, life span of up to 40 years; however the upfront cost is enormous, and not everyone can afford the cost to put the stylish panels on their roof tops. Many jobs would be lost at the oil field however more jobs would be created by installing other methods of
Solar energy benefits outpace the concerns of drilling by a landslide. The time has come to put the drill aside and use are natural tools to energize our country. Coal, oil, and natural gas are the primary non-renewable energy sources being utilized in the United States today. These resources, also known as fossil fuels, are damaging the natural environment that we live in carrying great consequence. According to Klare (2010) “It may not seem as if we operate under such a philosophy today, but we do—one that extols growth over all other considerations, that privileges existing fuels over
Abstract 3 The physics of roller coasters is very simple. Although it may appear to be very intricate and complicates, even the most amateur physicists are able to grasp it. The entire concept of the physics behind roller coasters is merely in the understanding of potential and kinetic energy. Along with understanding the two parts themselves, it is also quite necessary that you understand the relationship between them. In the article "How Roller Coasters Work" Tom Harris says that the main purpose of the initial ascent of a Roller Coaster is to save up a ton of potential energy.
