Human Self Destruction What Really Drives the Death of Our Society? Laison Lamont Dunnavant English 122 English Composition Instructor: Victoria Schmidt August 12, 2013 The topic that I decided to choose was Social Sciences; more specifically “What motivates terrorists and assassins, and how do their actions affect society. You may ask yourself what’s the reasoning behind terrorism and assassination. There are many factors that motivate the reason why terrorism or assassination occurs. Whether there is a right or wrong reason I’m here to shed light on the subject. While terrorism and assassination can often be debated as one of the biggest issues in today’s society some others would often debate otherwise. What I mean by this is throughout the history and study of terrorism as well as assassinations there are times where people felt it was necessary because of oppression to commit these acts. In any way shape or form good or bad people provide justifications that try and make it “ok” as to why it is necessary. The Definition of terrorism is: the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes. (Dictionary.com). this definition is important to identify first before we get deep into the reasoning behind why terrorist commit such acts. It was once said by Osama Bin Laden that: "America has been hit by Allah at its most vulnerable point, destroying, thank God, its most prestigious buildings. This quote alone supports the idea that the justification of the act of terrorism varies across the board and are not primarily because of “political purposes.
