Human migration Human migration refers to the physical movement by humans from one area to another, sometimes overlong distances. This is the global definition for human migration. However, my definition is somehow different. Human migration for me has been the longing for my culture and friends. It is the force that has widened my knowledge and experience of the whole world. I have lived my life, similar to that of a nomad, gathering the knowledge of different cultures and their activities; and hunting for a higher standard of living and educational opportunities. I have spent my childhood years in my native land, India. Grown up in a country where strong relationships form the base, my first priority has always been the protection and happiness of my family. I have played in the atmosphere full of dust but my immune system has never given permission to the antigens to affect my body. The neighboring doors have always remained open without any prior notification for my visit. My friends had the same skin color and the same way of thinking as I did. I had thousands of hands to support me and thousands of shoulders to cry on. However, India did not have high standard of living and high education facilities. Thus, when my father got a job opportunity in Oman, he took the decision to migrate to Oman in less than an hour. The migration to Oman did not give me a culture shock, as there were more Indians in Oman than the native people. In addition, we never incurred a financial problem as my father had the job before handed. However, something did change in those teenage years. I fell ill even when there was no dust on the road. The neighboring doors were closed and opened only when there was a formal party or gathering. I did not find Indian friendliness in my new friends even when they were Indians; they had the same color but not the same way of
