The distinctive feature of a human being from other living beings is his ability to communicate and his intelligence. It is possible for him by the function of a vital organ of his body –the human brain. The ability to remember makes man different from other living beings. The memory helps him to store many things in the brain which happened in his life. The memory capacity in each individual varies from person to person. Some have excellent memory power and at the same time some suffers from low memory status. Individuals with high intellect normally have extra ordinary memory power. They can memorize even the minute details without any hindrance. Several research emphasis that the memory capacity in an individual can be improved in so many ways. A person with an average memory can develop his memory through several methods. Our ancestors improved their concentration and memory power through meditation. In modern era the relevancy of meditation has increased. Due to the fast and competitive lifestyle many are under stress pressure which results in low memory and immunity. This generally affects their health also. Meditation gives the adequate rest and calmness to the mind and body which helps to think and remember things in a disciplined way. A matter which is stored with order will help to improve the memory of a person. Another relevant method is the practice of yoga. Then there are memory improving games and activities. These help to relaxation and a relaxed mind can remember a variety of things at a time. A person who is tensed is always under pressure and anxiety which in turn deplete the memory power. This happens due to different chemical and hormonal changes in a body. Having a healthy diet also is one of the best ways to increase memory power.
