1. Introduction In today’s competitive markets, achieving high performance, break through innovations and being able to retain the best human capital even when facing difficult times is a key factor for success. Amongst many other factors, understanding human behavior is critical to organizations in order to engage and inspire employees to go the extra mile (Baker, A. B. and Schaufel, W. B., 2008). Successful organizations where employees’ emotional attachment (which refers to the emotional commitment identified by employees who enjoy being associated or having a membership with an organization) has been identified have demonstrated that the commitment of those employees is directly related to achieving the organizations’ (the “Organizations”) goals and values (Allen, N. J. and Meyer, J. P., 1990). Within this text I will propose, under the scope that understanding human behavior is critical to Organizations, the importance and benefits of self-assessment for leaders (the “Leaders”) in order to improve their performance effectively hence impacting individuals’ performances and taking Organizations to success. In addition, in regards to the intrinsic sources of employee motivation, I will demonstrate prejudices as a major concern of responsibility for Leaders within Organizations. As a Leader, I will also provide my personal plan on how to reduce the impact of such prejudices within my own team, department and Organization as well as demonstrate my commitment in achieving this goal. 2. Understanding Human Behavior is critical to Organizations It has been identified that Organizations and the people working for them are facing the most challenging conditions to survive and develop new processes, methods, products, innovation, services and new markets since the Great Depression.
