During this time Nader conducted a study that recommended the federal government get more involved in promoting auto safety. In 1965, after leaving the labor department, Nader finished the book he started while working with the labor department. This book, entitled Unsafe at Any Speed: The Designed –in Dangers of the American Automobile would fuel his consumer advocacy legacy. Unsafe at Any Speed attacked the Detroit auto industry for what Nader described as an emphasis on profits and style over safety. In February 1966, Nader delivered an indictment of the auto industry before Senator Ribicoff’s subcommittee.

Albert Speer – rise to prominence Albert Speer was a significant figure in German history due to his various architectural projects and his appointment as Minister for Armaments. Although he claimed to be apolitical, Speer joined the Nationalist Social party on March 1st, 1931 and from they’re his career in the Nazi party prospered. Speer’s first contribution to the Nazi party was as a chauffer, as district head of the Nazi Motorist League, where he met Karl Hanke. A recommendation by Hanke to Goebbels, gave Speer his first architectural assignment of decorating Goebbels headquarters in Berlin. Hitler approved the finished result, however Goebbels did not like its simplicity and had it redecorated.

The automobile industry uses advertisements and different persuasive techniques to sell their vehicle. This advertisement I chose by Ford targets the viewer’s conscience and subconscious mind and at the same time makes, the person want to buy one of their vehicles, the 2011 Ford F-150. This ad also has some rhetorical elements. When discussing the rhetorical triangle of the ad, the subject is the Ford F-150 – “The New 2011 F-150”. The speaker is the artwork and the words on the advertisement.

In this commercial, Ford aims to convince potential customers that Ford, more specifically their new F-150 Trucks, are the best trucks on the market. From the amazing achievements of Ford to the display and jaw dropping new technology, Ford’s new ad campaign is a huge success with its uses of ethos, logos, and pathos. Ford begins the commercial with a colorful showcase of the F-150 trucks created throughout the years. To be blunt, this tells the audience that they have been in business for decades and know what they are doing.

The employees at Ford, as unionized workers with the UAW, successfully have developed Ford into one of the largest manufacturers in the United States. Fords benefits from unionization because the union contracts can be negotiated and any work issues can be resolved, such as workplace safety, wages, and benefits.
