Many large organizations employ many workers which makes it necessary for them to have a human resource department.   This is the case with Riordan Manufacturing Inc. which employs over 250 people making a human resource department very necessary if they hope to meet the objectives of the firm in an efficient and effective manner.   The human resource system being used currently is merged with the financial systems package which has been in use since the inception of the company in 1992.   This system is in need of an update or replacement in order to move forward with the company‚Äôs needs as well as the needs of the employees.   According to MSG experts, the practice of HRM needs to be integrated with the overall strategy to ensure effective use of people and provide better returns to the organizations in terms of return on investment for every rupee or dollar spent on them (2008).
Information collection
The project information collection phase is a very important phase as it will ensure the necessary information is correctly gathered and cataloged so that the various tasks needed to meet project goals will be accomplished.   This phase includes problem identification and definition as well as consulting with the main stakeholders.   The concerns of the various users will also be looked into in order to come up with a method that will consider and address all of them effectively (Mathis & John, 2010).
