Something doesn’t make sense, and it bothers me. I like to think that I have the common sense to know when something doesn’t make sense. At my workplace, I believe I am surrounded by the dedicated professionals who strive to be the best in their field. I am one of those dedicated professionals; however, I am a bit shy on sharing my knowledge with others. In all fairness, I should share the knowledge that was given to me, socialize the ideas that I have developed, and present the information in a way that makes sense to others. But the questions are: How do I know that I know things well enough to share, and how will I know that I’m ready to give back to those that shared their knowledge with me? By returning to school at this time in my life, I hope to advance my knowledge of the subjects that I study, learn about the challenges that others face, and achieve insight on how to apply knowledge to real-world obstacles. I believe it is important to take the time to advance my knowledge of the subjects that I study. I enjoy learning and have a basic understanding of many subjects. With convenient access to the Internet, it’s important to realize that the majority of information is provided without credible references or worthy citations. How does anyone know that the information provided is real or up to current times and standards? Having access to a formal university online allows me to gain a deeper understanding of the subjects on my own time in my own comfort zone. Learning in such a way lets the deeper understanding become second nature, and I am able to use that knowledge to support my decisions and actions more easily. Observing the different ways that my degree-holding colleagues communicate and comparing it to my own communications in the past allows me to make notes for improvements.
