To write a research paper, you will need a computer or typewriter, research information, printer, works cited page, and cover page. The only risks to worry about when writing a research paper are not using the right punctuation when quoting information. It could be considered plageurism which could be handled by expulsion. It shouldn’t take very long to write a research paper. It all depends on how much time and effort you put into working on it. It usually takes about a week to gather all of your sources and write your paper. Some people do not take as much time and other may take longer. The first step you want to do is pick a topic. Most research papers can be on any topic of your choice, some teachers may pick a topic for you. If you are able to pick your own topic it is always good to pick something you are interested in or know a little about. The second step is to gather all of your information. It can be from various sources including the internet, books, biographies, newspaper articles, journals, magazines, and more. It is a good idea to have at least three sources when writing a paper. You can never have too much information. The next step is to conduct an outline. An outline is a good way to keep your information in order. It provides a overall view of your paper. Outlines are also good when making speeches and writing essays. The next step is actually writing the paper. When writing your paper you want to have all of your information in front of you. Also, you will want to have your outline to use. Most papers are typed and double-spaced. When using your information make sure to use the correct punctuation as I mentioned before.
