You need to make sure that you are ready to take on all of the tasks that come with owning a pet, because it is a big responsibility. Owning a pet can also be very expensive due to all the costs that are associated with it, such as vaccines, food and vet bills. You need to think about the living space that you have where you live. Do you have adequate space to house your pet and the time to spend with it? You also need to think about what size or kind of pet you want. This will depend on what you want to do with your pet. This decision is something that needs to be well thought through so that the wrong decision isn’t made on choosing the right pet for you and your family. First, you need to decide why you want to own a pet. Is it for companionship for yourself, will it be a therapy pet, will it be a family pet or a four legged child. Many families purchase a pet to be their child’s companion. If you are purchasing a pet to instill responsibility in your child it could mean that the pet doesn’t get the proper care it needs or deserves, so be prepared to provide most of the care yourself. Pena 2 Second, you will need to decide if your household budget will allow for you to own a pet. Besides the initial cost of the pet, you will incur the expense of purchasing the pet a suitable home or cage to live or sleep in, if you choose to kennel train your pet. You will need to purchase food on a weekly or monthly basis. You will also have the initial rabies vaccine that needs to be administered to your pet by a veterinarian.
