Tatum-Oakes 06-09-13 EDU 225 Instructional Technology How technology helps and hurts Instruction in the classroom Technology is the question at hand, computer in every classroom if you would have asked teacher back when computers where first breaking out on to the scene, if you were to ask a teachers do you think they are important they would have said no! But, now it is hard to even Go into a school now a days without seeing a computer, smart boards, and even some schools iPads. The main way technology helps students is it lets kids see things that are not in their everyday lives. Like in one of the citied sources (1) digital divide, teachers, technology, and the classroom 2000). They talking about kids going to a pond that is next to their school and when they saw that the pond was shrinking they were able to go on to their computers and find out more about how, and why it was happening. Then they went out and talked to the local government to help out the pond and its wildlife. In other schools they were finding ways to integrate computers into their everyday lesson-plans by first teaching to their students then after they help from the teacher have them go on to the web and learn more about the lessons that day. Some of the other pros I’ve found so not only being able to go to school online but the fact that we can talk and see people from a crossed the world in real time. Teachers use all kind of high-tech things in their class to prepare their students for what lays ahead of them when they get into the real world and into the workforce. Ok so now that I have share some of the pros to tech in the class room here are some of the cons. Some of the cons I’ve found that technology is does well when you have it in your means to have it.
