The labour forces foreign secretaries have used this as a means to extend the awareness of globalisation and the benefits it entails. But the concentration of the government on non domestic affairs has had some negative backlash. It has had a remarkable impact on local elections as there has been an increase in the amount of supporters for the British National Party which is seen as a racist party this is a harsh blow to the government. An increase in support for the BNP is a step in the wrong direction, however this may not be purely the result of globalisation and other factors may have been involved. Yet the process does have a significant impact on UK politics.
Long after the years where they had to fight for their land and their freedom (by the way, at the expense of the American Indians), they seem to have become completely paranoid. The September 11, 2001 tragedy did not help to invert that trend. So why is that so? The answer that Michael Moore is presenting in "Bowling for Columbine” is that Americans are being controlled by fears, oh, not their own, but fears actually instilled by repetitive and diverse media coverage. According to him, the constant spreading of fears of just about anything and anyone is benefiting some large corporations as well as the authorities in place.
Despite the unhealthy, some addicts will careless and continue to do what they want; comparably, some people still go to McDonald’s. That is why, “forbidding young people things they like or think they might enjoy only makes them want those thing all the more” (884). Vidal’s statement is exact to all ages. Besides, “every man, however, has the power (and should have the legal right) to kill himself if he chooses” (884). Vidal mocks the power of choice; it can execute a person in a simple and ordinary way.
Personally, I find it sad the way they are treated now and the slaughtering of so many of them unethical and disturbing. The connection between them and capitalism may be slightly exaggerated. I sort of see where the author was going but ultimately I feel like it went completely against their beliefs and way of life. They did not place a money value on things; they traded, lived off the land, built their own tools, caught their own food and had a sense of connection between all the elements of Earth. They respected the land, used in moderation and prioritized the whole tribe over themselves.
We live in an extremely judgmental and unforgiving society, of which corporations are more than aware. They are the first to exploit our anxieties and insecurities by bombarding us with images of an unrealistic ideal. We are lead to believe we are falling short of the ‘perfect life’ and with our so-called shortcomings in mind; we strive towards an unobtainable goal. In doing so, we spend copious amounts of money on ‘must-haves’ only to be faced with the inevitable disillusionment when, in fact, the diet pills do not help us shed three stone in a week, and the hair re-growth serum leaves our scalp as bald as before. This, above all else, is what gets to me.
Also Americas can believe is that having everything they want to have and better life conditions. The illegal immigrants illegally enter the U.S. in various ways including crossing international political border, fraudulent marriage, or a foreigner who has entered a country legally but then overstays his/her visa, and so on. The term may imply a larger set of social issues and time constraints with disputed consequences in areas such as economy, social welfare, education, health care, crime, and so on. The illegal immigrate problem that has been coming to the forefront of America, so prohibition of illegal immigrant should be improved more strongly by law. One reason leading to of illegal immigration can be poverty in their home country.
Talking of how the west was won will be something they always feel horrified about. The mythic popular cultures about how the West was won always leave them with anger and silence at same time. This is because despite the many attempts made by the Native Americans to ascertain a pseudo-omnipotent disposition through films and other diverse channels, such a material would serve as a constant reminder that the west has been won (Runge
With the use of technology people are now pushing the envelope and experiencing options that were uncommon to previous eras. Race Mixing however was not always as popular as it is in our modern day society. In previous generations the idea of miscegenation (race mixing) would produce “undesirable mongrels” and the crossing race would lead to behavioral disharmony. Madison Grant, the author of “The passing of the great race”, went on to say that racial mixing was a social and racial crime that would lead to the demise of white civilization. With the concept of eugenics focusing on hereditary differences without taking socioeconomic variable into account it only allowed prior generations a “pseudo-scientific” gloss for their
In addition to legal and physical hardships involved with immigration there can also be cultural hardships. American have a distinct culture which can strongly conflict with that of the country of origin. Large immigrant population tend to stick together in districts or neighborhoods but generations inevitably branch out and fully integrate, until eventually the languages from the homeland stop being passed down. But just as America changes the immigrants, the immigrants also change America. This is the 'melting pot' theory that everyone brings a little piece of the homeland culture with them which over time become adopted into American culture as well.
Many countries are in danger of losing their cultural identity on account of globalization. Say what could be done about it. “Globalisation will make our societies more creative and prosperous, but also more vulnerable.” said Lord Robertson, a Scottish diplomat, in reference to phenomenon leading to rapid interdependence and integration of countries, economies and cultures. It is hard to deny that globalisation has many positive sides, however, with western countries expanding their multinational companies and lifestyles all over the world, the identities of individual cultures are at risk of obliteration. What could be done to avoid such a situation?
