The role of the practitioner is a variety of things that include being key worker this means that practitioners have a small group of children each that are there key children. it is then their job to observe and assess them and keep them on track with their development looking for any extra support that they need and if so then they need to put practice in place to help the children achieve the development milestones. Practitioners need to praise children and encourage them to succeed in their learning and give them the support they need.

J (2012) talks about how the role of the practitioner should plan for a balance between adult –led learning and child –led learning. This means that the adult needs to observe children closely to see how they are developing. TDA 2.3 Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults In my assessment I will be looking at communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults in schools as well as identifying and describing the key points linked to this topic. 1.1 Describe how to establish respectful, professional relationships with children and young people When building relationships with children and young people, it is vital that you adapt your behaviour and communication accordingly. You need to be able to make yourself approachable, as some children can find it difficult to connect with adults. This is why demonstrating effective communication skill can be just as important as offering support. Establishing ground rules and mutual respect at the start of any relationship when working with children is vital, this will be the foundation to successfully interacting with all children regard less of their age, culture and abilities.
It is also important that children learn by themselves where they are given the opportunity to make errors, decisions and choices but to also be respected. Children often learn by doing rather than being told what to do. By the purpose of this framework it highlights that it benefits the children by having that key person within the setting that they are able to depend on. The Birth to Three Matters has four aspects which have been divided into sections. They highlight the relationship between the growth, learning, development and environment the child is being cared for and also educated in.
Children are also encouraged help one another. They are taught to ask for help from another child before coming to a teacher. I plan activities that require cooperation and group work so that children will work together to solve problems and be attentive to other’s needs. The children make our room a better place by being empathetic and helpful to others. In my program I want children to be independent and make positive choices.
The teacher’s role is to promote learning using the children’s interests to develop the curriculum. This means the teacher is not actually teaching the class or leading the class like most teachers. The teacher is promoting the specific learning skills that they want the children to learn but allowing them to run the classroom while giving them guidance. Every child has different ways of learning and a style in which they like to learn. The teacher must ensure they are reaching all of these different types of learning styles.
This is so the practitioner can act on the advice and put it onto the planning. This advice can have more experience in different aspects of the child’s life. This then helps with the care and learning needs of all children as if the child has a disability which affects their learning. The teacher will have to get another professional in that knows what they are doing to help care for the child and help with the child’s learning. This means that the child will be getting a full learning experience and understand the lesson because it is easier for them.
