How do emotions affect our everyday life behavior? Date 11/06/2009 Emotions are mental and physical states that are associated with feelings, thoughts and behaviors. It is a prime determinant of the sense of subjective well-being and appears to play a central role in many human activities (Emotions, ¶ 1). Emotions are very important to our mental life because they make us happy, they bring us joy, they fill our life with moments to cherish and remember forever. But not all emotions are good. Experiencing emotions is one reason that makes life worth living, or maybe even ending it. Positive emotions affect the way we see the world, and our attitudes towards others and our self. They teach us some of the most valuable lessons in life like knowing how to love, having mercy, forgiving the others, being gratitude, having hopes and optimism, laughing at humor, having fun, etc. All these emotions change our prospect of the world. On the other side stand the negative emotions. These are created by underlying fears of the things we don’t know and wanting to have control over them in order not to be harmed. Negative emotions have the opposite reaction to a person, they make him desperate, hopeless and turn down the desire to live. Anyway, the situation is not completely black and white, there are emotions that don’t disguise their real meaning but in fact they are the opposite of what they show to be. A typical example is hostility, which is very good covered and cannot be recognized instantly. Emotions have major effects on our daily lives, and can make it better off or worse off. Handling and managing them rationally is very important. One of the effects they have on our life is showed in routine activities we perform every day.
