Computers Have Changed Our World Humans are master innovators, constantly inventing and creating new marvels for the modern world. Whether it is for serious business, or recreational games, the computer is by far one of the most significant inventions of modern society. The computer as we know it today, the personal computer, was invented in the late 1960’s by Victor Glushkov and in the following years, academic institutions usually had at least one. More than 40 years later, it is not uncommon for each household in Canada and the U.S. to have at least several. Economic geniuses have made them affordable for everyone. Not only are personal computers good for educational purposes, but they work wonders by helping people all over the world stay connected, allowing globalization to happen at an even faster pace. Libraries, simply put, are warehouses of information. The world’s largest libraries hold hundreds of thousands of books containing information passed down from our ancestors. Now a days I find that people do not use libraries as much, but instead turn to the internet, accessible from nearly any computer. The internet has become such a big part of our culture and it would not exist if the personal computer was not invented. Over the years, so much information has been put on the internet and has such an ease of access that most humans today are able to tap into the near infinite amount of knowledge put on there by others to read. However, most teenagers and young adults tend to use it for other purposes, such as social media websites and not taking advantage of its full potential. These magnificent wonders of technology are not only good for accessing knowledge. They are used by most governments, organizations and companies to store and easily organize information and data.
