Explain how a Dancer can improve in Rehearsals to Perform in a Group When rehearsing in a group, it is very important to think about the music you are using, and the counts that go with that piece of music. For example, in my group, we had trouble with our counting. Sometimes we’d finish before the music ended, and sometimes after because we’d forget the counts. This can become a problem when performing because it means your group isn’t always in time with the music, which can affect the fluidity of the performance. Another thing we found challenging, was actually working in the group itself! Initially, it was fine because we had quickly established which one of us would be which character in the performance. However soon after there were problems with spacing, which meant we argued a lot with each other and with other groups! This is something a dancer must consider in order to improve in their group performance, because good co-operation with all the dancers means a smoother performance. Props are also something to think about in order to improve in a group performance. For example, our group used a chair to show the boundaries between the characters, but you could easily use any prop which is seen as relevant to the piece. However it can also mean your group has to work a little harder to try and include the prop in the piece, but overall it looks really professional and can work really
